5.0 out of 5 stars awesome little loader
If you are looking for something to easily load 223/5.56 rounds from strippers into mini-14 mags this is what you need.
It literally only takes a few seconds to strip the rounds into the clip. This stripper is also very helpful loading loose rounds.
I have not tried to use it with poly mags yet but I'm sure it would work just fine with that too.

3.0 out of 5 stars There are better products.
Purchased this to quickly load AR mags with stripper clips. They do the job fine and also load Mini-14 mags, but I like the NC star better:

If you are intending to use stripper clips, I would go with the NC Star stripper speed loader. Otherwise, it met...

5.0 out of 5 stars My .02 on the StripLULA...., August 29, 2011

Well it took a few weeks to receive after ordering it, but I finally received the StripLULA and tried it out with my aftermarket mag. It worked, but with a little tilting forward of the StripLULA... as it wasn't seating the bullets correctly when it was lined up as it should be. This is likely because I'm not using a factory mag... but the product did say it could work with poly mags too, so idk. Anyhow, it worked (with a little effort) and loaded my bag "fairly" quickly for hand loading the rounds. Overall, I like the product!

I read a lot of reviews about the Striplula for the mini-14 before I bought it. A lot of them said you could only load original Ruger clips with it. After receiving it, I emptied all my clips and tried it out. I have a number of clips, of different sizes and manufacturers. The Ruger 20's loaded great. The Ruger 30's loaded great. So, it worked as advertised. Then I tried in on my Pro Mag clips, 20's and 30's. It worked fine as long as I kept a good grip on it. I had one that went cock-eyed, but it was a sticky clip anyway. A little dry lube in the clip and it loaded just fine. Then I tried it on my unknown manufacturer clips, a 20 and a 30. Again, just kept a good grip and it loaded fine. So, my recommendation is get one of these loaders with confidence. It will do the job for you. It really, really beats pushing in the bullets one by one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very helpful item, August 8, 2011

I've tested this product on both Ruger factory and Pro Mag twenty round magazines. I've used stripper clips and loaded the round directly into the LULA. It has never failed to work when used correctly to quickly and easily slide the ammo in place.

What prevented me from giving it five stars was:

a.) this is the only LULA I've used for a rifle magazine, so I don't really know if it's a superior product or if it's just average. The four stars for this review means "I like it"

b.) the plastic is soft. While it feels durable enough to be stomped on and for the majority of the body the soft plastic is ideal (it's lightweight and plenty strong to do the job), I'm willing to bet that it will wear down with extended use and never get passed to the next generation. Also, unless you hold the item perfectly as instructed you run the risk of the soft plastic at the base from allowing the LULA to be pressed off of the magazine as you attempt to slide the ammo in. In other words, it takes less rearward pressure to pop the LULA off than downward pressure to pop the ammo in. The normal use of this LULA does apply enough rearward pressure to pop it off unless you counter-balance by stabilizing the base with your free hand. I'll admit this falls into the category of user error, but if I saw a stronger, more fool-proof version of this loader with tighter tolerances I'd recommend that instead. You'll always have to use two hands with this LULA.

c.) the same base also has a tab on it that is useful for unloading the ammo. However, not much effort was given to show how to use it correctly. You don't push on the primer end toward the bullet end to slide it out (as I originally thought). You don't touch the round to be ejected at all. Instead, push down on the round below it to reduce the magazine's spring's pressure on the round you're ejecting. As long as you have the magazine held so that the bullets are pointing at the ground the next round will fall out.

While it has the Butler Creek name on it, the product is made by Maglula Ltd. Visit Maglula's website for a video demo.

Overall it's a great product and I'd recommend it. It makes loading magazines much easier. Feel free to ask questions, but don't necessarily expect a speedy reply.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fast & Easy, wish it was aluminum though, July 30, 2011

This review is from: Butler Creek StripLULA for Mini-14, Mag Loader, Butler Creek #24201 (Misc.)
It took me a bout 30 seconds to figure out how to use this properly and another 30 seconds to load a 20 round Mini 14 mag(Ruger factory mag, not sure how it works with after market mags). It comes with very brief instructions which is all that's needed. I don't have stripper clips just single rounds. Once I read to lay the Striplula on its back to load single rounds(10 at a time max), I was off to the races. I tried to load it in vertical position prior to actually looking at the instructions, possible but slower and the rounds don't stay lined up as well. If you use stripper clips it must be really fast. I would have given 5 stars but the Striplula is plastic and I'm not sure how it will hold up over time. Striplula is made in Isreal.

Clever design. It works as advertised. Durable but light-weight. I had no problems loading any of my mags, using stripper clips or individual rounds. Check out this quick video if you want to see it in action: [...]

5.0 out of 5 stars Overall The Best LULA - Simple, Small & Compact, Durable, February 4, 2011
This review is from: Butler Creek StripLULA for Mini-14, Mag Loader, Butler Creek #24201 (Misc.)
NOTE - THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE Butler Creek M-16/M4/AR-15 StripLULA, NOT THE MINI-14. (Both products are almost identical however.)

ORIGINAL REVIEW - I've gone thru three different 223/5.56 mag loader/unloaders (LULA) in my 40+yr life (and that's NOT including using the USGI "spoons" and loading by hand a gazillion times). The Butler Creek LULA is by far the simplest to use - you quickly figure it out after mounting it on your mag.

It fits all USGI aluminum mags I own, (about 7 of the most common pre-ban and current brands), PMags, and Lancer mags. It readily takes 10rd stripper clips & loads loose rounds just as easily. Takes less than 7 seconds to load the 1st stripper clip, and another 8-10 seconds total for the next 2 clips. Using loose rounds, it takes a little more than twice as long.

The BEST features about this LULA:
* VERY compact size - easily fits in a pistol mag pouch on your LBV Vest or MOLLE pack.
* VERY light weight - if it weighs more than an empty mag, that's just dumb
* Smart design - its clear a lot of thought went into its design and materials of construction; no parts to loose.
* Durable polymer construction - the LULA feels solid when using it, and the moving part won't break off. (There is a small metal spring that keeps it snuggly mounted on a mag, but it appears to be blackened metal oxide coated wire, which should last a long time.)
* The Unloader actually works - the little tab unloads rounds from a loaded mag easier than any other unloading mechanisms I've used before, and its so darn simple on has to ask "why didn't I think of that?"

IMHO, this is the best alternative for US infantry soldiers because its very light & compact, and will fit inside a pistol mag pouch on an armor plate vest to reload mags in any situation.

Want to load your mags quickly and cheaply compared to other loaders? This is it. Highly recommended unless you like to load your mags one bullet at a time and give your fingers a good workout. Works even better if your ammos are on stripper clips.
