Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Ideal for movies, music, and gaming, the ButtKicker LFE "silent subwoofer" lets users experience realistic special effects and concert-quality music without waking the kids or disturbing the neighbors. Rather than emitting loud rumbling sounds during each explosion or heavy bass passage, the ButtKicker simulates the "feeling" of the effect through your couch, chairs, and other furnishings, letting you sense the low without the excessive volume. The device accurately mimics the sensation of many natural and manmade sounds, such as earthquakes, thunderstorms, rocket launches, waves, explosions, tornadoes, volcanoes, dinosaurs, sound effects, and all styles of music. Listeners can also use the ButtKicker LFE as a subwoofer add-on, synching the shaking sensation with the sub's powerful bass response to create an entirely new home theater experience.

The ButtKicker LFE (low-frequency effects) functions similar to a loudspeaker, but instead of moving a cone and transferring sound waves through the air, it uses a patented magnetic suspension system to attach to seats and floors, thus sending the low frequency sound directly into the listener's body. Listeners can decrease the sound pressure level from the subwoofer to where the kids upstairs can't hear it, yet still feel all the bass they want. And as compared to other shakers or tactile transducers that use voice coil technology, the ButtKicker is more powerful and more musical (linear), with a true low frequency response of 9 Hz and a range of 5 to 200 Hz.

To top it off, the ButtKicker LFE is virtually indestructible and maintenance-free. It's so reliable, in fact, that dozens of theme park owners, specialty theaters, virtual reality operators, and arcade owners are using a commercial version of the ButtKicker to boost their bottom line. So if you're looking to delight and electrify your guests with an affordable and easy-to-use full-body experience, it's time to incorporate the ButtKicker into your home theater system.

The Buttkicker provides the ultimate in low-end isolation, letting you monitor your bass drum or bass guitar without airborne sound waves. For drummers wearing headphones it is also a way to avoid hearing loss. If Buttkickers are mounted where other band members can feel the bass drum, you'll hear the whole groove really tighten up. Buttkicker is also excellent for use in small studios where it provides accurate and powerful low-end monitoring.Mounted to your home theater seating Buttkicker will bring soundtracks to life with awesome bass that doesn't involve deafening volumes and won't disturb your family and neighbors.Throne mounting bracket and specialized amplifier available separately.

The Buttkicker adds a bit of shake to your home theatre. It doesn't replace the subwoofer, but sort-of turns the floor into a lower subwoofer. And I love it. But there are some things you should know.

First, the LFE Kit (with Amp) is probably the best choice to start with because you can't drive it from your receiver - not enough power. So getting in the game will cost you around $500. Which is more than for Aura Bass Shakers, but far better.

Second, one LFE Kit will do a sofa nicely, but if you, like me, mount it under your floor, you're gonna need two. Possibly more, but probably two. Because that's a LOT more mass to shake, and otherwise they'll be maxxing out and making a loud knocking noise.

Third, it's not like riding a rollercoaster. You'll feel the floor shake from loud sound effects, bombs, etc., but don't expect magic. It makes the movie more real, but it doesn't toss you around.

All that said, it's a great addition. If you can afford the cost-of-entry, you'll be amazed how shallow the system feels with it off.

Ok, so you've read all of the positive reviews about the buttkicker and if you're like me you're thinking "is this thing really as good as everyone says it is?" in my opinion NO it's BETTER! I purchased the Buttkicker LFE Kit and was prepared to be dissatisfied as I have been with other products in the past that have gotten "rave reviews". The Buttkicker LFE Kit is not exactly inexpensive but for the most part the quality of the components is excellent. If you're a bass junky like me who is always getting yelled at to "turn it down!" you'll love this thing. Be aware that the performance you get is directly related to how you mount the transducer. I have mine mounted on an 18"x72" piece of 3/4" MDF which is screwed directly to the bottom of a futon. The results are amazing! The first movie I watched was "Happy Feet" and in the scene where Mumbles and his friends go sliding down the glacier the effect was so immersive (and intensive) that I giggled like a school girl. The way I have it mounted the Buttkicker will shake the futon so hard that my 100" projection screen looks blurry and I have to keep pushing my glasses back up on my nose. Ok it's not for everyone, but if you want to add another dimension to your home theatre and like things that are just a little bit "over the top" get one you won't be disappointed.

I built platform with kinetic isolators on the bottom where movie- theater style chairs
on bolted on the platform. This thing is AWESOME. I have watched movies that I have seen
in the outside commercial movie theater, such as Tokyo Drift... My home theater felt much more
intense, and better. I also optioned out the amplier recommended by the manufacture and use
Tech amplier to power these.... it worked fine but requires some techie know how... i highly recommend this stuff for anyone who wants to impress him or herself and friends.... 5/5 no doubts
