Most delightful Louis Armstrong recording,
By David G. Lucas (Tsukuba Japan, Chicago IL, Milwaukee WI, Monroe WI) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Butter & Egg Man (Audio CD)
There are so many Louis Armstrong CDs available, how does one choose the best ones? I've found this to be one of the most delightful Louis Armstrong recordings in my collection, one that I keep going back to over and over again for a pick-me-up of songs that will really stick in your mind. And might you be searching for that definitive recording of Do You Know What It Means To Miss New Orleans? Right here. Other special treats are Butter & Eggman, a tribute to good Southern living (I say good, not healthy), and a quirky Uncle Satchmo's Lullaby with Gabrielle Clonisch that you won't find anywhere else. For a taste of the classic, this album also contains the Summertime duet with Ella Fitzgerald. Which reminds me of my next two favorite Louis Armstrong recordings...! Check out Ella & Louis B00004RD5E and Ella & Louis Again B000084H9J for classic jazz antics and revelry!

Why do I rate this the best compilation ever on Louis Armstrong ?
I guess because I have bought 3 copies for friends this Christmas. In listening to this record.....you get lost in a space in time. Leave all your communication devices in the next room and just relax and listen to music that will take you away. |
