Ariel of the Fae has been removed from her position as Queen of the Pillywiggins or flower faeries by Titania, Queen of the Fae, after Ariel had defended Oberon's son, Robin Goodfellow. Now, Ariel is in the home of Robin and his mortal wife, Kate, admiring their infant son when a strange and unfamiliar feeling comes over her from a longing she doesn't completely understand - she wants a child. A child she believe will help her loneliness fade.

Also admiring the infant is Rand Thayer. Ariel sees him as the perfect candidate to father her baby but the innocent and naïve Ariel isn't well versed in the tact of mortal society and boldly asks Rand to father her baby.

Rand Thayer has grown up in a home of eleven women so he thinks he knows all there is to know about female behavior. But he's never met anyone quite like Ariel who keeps showing up in the most mysterious ways.

This is the perfect book to read if, after recent world events you feel the fun has gone out of your reading experience. Although BUTTERCUP BABY stands alone, readers of PRINCE OF CHARMING will enjoy re-visiting Robin Goodfellow and his Kate.

Karen Fox has written an utterly charming "faery" tale - a romantic fantasy sure to please readers everywhere. I hope we will see more stories like this from this talented author. Enjoy the magic of Karen Fox!!

As queen of the Pillywiggins, Ariel is used to being needed, but since her callous dismissal from her position and banishment from court, she has been set adrift with nothing to do. Oberon, King of the Fae, takes pity on Ariel and sends her to the mortal world to check on his human grandson. Ariel has never seen a baby before, and she instantly falls in love and decides that she would like a child of her own. Ariel has found the man she wants to help her conceive a child, all she has to do is convince him!

Rand Thayer is attracted to the beautiful Ariel, but he's had enough of women and children, gaining his freedom from his ten sisters and their children was hard enough, and he has no desire to start a family of his own. However, Rand's passion for Ariel overrules his resolve and he ends up making love to Ariel, which results with them conceiving a child. Ariel can't go back to the Fae world while pregnant, and Rand has twelve weeks to convince her to let him be a part of the child's life. Rand soon finds out that what he thought he never wanted, is actually the thing he wants most of all.

BUTTERCUP BABY is full of Fae magic with heartwarming love and laughter. Ariel's magic goes awry during her pregnancy and those moments are hilarious. The love scenes are hot and sexy, with their own bit of magic attached. I didn't care for the fact that Ariel's pregnancy was for twelve weeks, and I was personally pseudo-affronted for all human women! LOL There is some major chemistry between a secondary couple that was a great asset to this book. All in all, I think BUTTERCUP BABY is a magical, delightful read.

In Prince Of Charming we read the magical love story of Robin Goodfellow who was half Mortal and half Fae. He gave up his magic and immortality for the love of Kate. Oberon, King of the Fae, was Robin's father. Thus, he kept an eye on his son's life in the mortal realm. Now, in Karen Fox's second novel, we (the readers) are treated to witness another magical love story between a Mortal and a Fae.

Ariel had been Queen of the Pillywiggins (the flower faeries) since the beginning of time, until she defended Robin from Titania, Queen of all the Fae. In a fury, Titania banished Ariel from her court and stripped her of her rank. Feeling useless and unneeded, Ariel jumped at the task Oberon gave her. Robin and Kate had a newborn child (who was mortal). Ariel was to check on Oberon's grandchild and send back a magical report.

From the first sight, smell, and touch of the baby Ariel was enthralled! She decided this was what she needed! A baby! A baby of her own would make her needed again! But the Fae could not impregnate each other. She would need a mortal for that. Once pregnant, Ariel and her baby could return and live in the magical realm! She chose Robin's brother-in-law, Rand Thayer. But when she asked him to impregnate her, he refused!

Rand had ten sisters, zero brother, and a tribe of nieces and nephews. No matter how great he was with kids, he did not want any of his own, until he met Ariel LeFay. He had not meant to get her pregnant, but it happened. It did not take much to convince him she was a fairy either! One thing he knew for sure, she was NOT going to deliver his baby and then disappear with the infant forever! She was stuck in his realm until delivery (one month). He had that long to think up a plan.

***** I would never have guessed that tears of the Fae turned into opals! Or that each hic-cup made a buttercup fall into their lap! Or that green Jell-O could ... well, you get my point. This is one love story readers will NEVER forget! Karen Fox's pen brings magic to life! Not many authors could make Faeries and magic seen REAL! I kept forgetting this was a work of fiction. Highly recommended! It gets no better than this! ***** ...

I liked this story. Buttercup Baby is sort of a sequel to Prince of Charming. In this story Ariel a fairy is sent to check on Robin Goodfellow's baby. She see's the baby and has a sudden desire to have achild of her own and in order to do that she must find a mortal male. Well she finds one alright in Rand Thayer, a friend of Robin and Kate's. She sort of attaches herself to him until his passion gets the better of him and they make love and concieve a child. Ariel ends up staying with Rand during her pregnancy and being drawn into his large family. There is a very interesting and funny scene with green Jell-o that you can't miss. This book is a nice afternoon read. I will enjoy reading more books by Karen Fox.

This book is like sunshine in a bottle... well in a book! Ariel used to be the queen of Pillywiggins, until she decided to defend one of her few friends (if not her only) and son of Oberon, Robin (Prince of Chanrming). Then Titania banishes her from her court leaving Ariel without a purpose. That is until she is sent by Oberon to see how his grandson (Robin's boy) is doing. And thats when everything goes haywire. Suddenly she wants to have a baby to fill the empityness in her and she decided that Rand Thayer would be the perfect man to father her child. But things go in a downward spiral as he refuses to do so, then she tricks him, then her magic goes chaotic on her, and she cant return home until the baby is born... or at least thats what she thinks! This was a very sweet book and the characters are so well crafted you feel like you actually know them. And Ariel's naivette is so sweet and real (given that she is a faery) that she gives you a heartwarming feeling! I highly recommend the book! Plus there's a bonus love story in it, which i wish i could have seen in more detail but none the less was beautiful and sweet! In short this book charmed my socks off!

If you are looking for a serious book about the Faerie, you'll have to look elsewhere. This book has almost nothing to do with the Fae, but it is a fun and unpretentious book, full of funny mishaps and charming characters. Ariel has lost her job as Queen of the flower faeries, and is at loose ends. She decides that what she really needs is to have a baby. Enter Rand Thayer, responsible brother to 10 sisters and uncle to uncounted children. Problem, Rand has sworn off of relationships, and has no desire to have children. Still, Ariel is undaunted, and Rand is attracted, and a little Fae magic has a fae child concieved. Poking holes in the condom seems positively antiquated comparatively. But then Ariel cannot re-enter Faeryland, and is foced to seek refuge with Rand for the duration of her three-week pregnancy (nice, huh?). Still, Areil doesn't want to live without her magic, and Rand has no desire to live without his family. How will the two of them work this out? A must read for a little light entertainment.

I loved that the author gave us two couples to follow. I almost wish that Dean and Stephanie were saved for a whole book of there own though. I liked them as much or more than the main characters. I have enjoyed all three books that I read from Karen Fox so far. If you haven't read any of her books, do yourself a favor and pick them up. They are a lot of fun to read.

Buttercup Baby: a truly magical story of a fairy wanting the unthinkable.... A BABY!! oh no i am not mistaken: Ariel of the Fae has seen, and now wants, a baby. And not just any baby, she wants Rand Thayer's baby. But how does a Faery deal with being turned down? You will have to find out!

Karen Fox litteraly brings the magic of Fun, Friends and family to life. Buttercup Baby is an extrodinary story that can be put on the shelf next to her other great Love Filled, Magic, Creations.

The premise is amusing and Karen Fox follows through on it very well. I especially enjoyed the little touches like the green jello scene, and the hiccuping flowers. Her heroine is believable, even taking into account that she's a fae, and her hero is delightful.

This is a sweet light story about Ariel, a lonely exiled queen of the flower fairies & her attempt to get herself pregnant so that she can be needed and have a purpose in life again. She picks out Rand a very handsome and kind man, & asks him to impregnate her! Needless to say her plans don't go exactly as she wishes.
I won't say more just that it's a well written light read And I couldn't put it down

Read Karen Fox's Somewhere My Love, it's a very well written Sci/fi story. Get it from the library if you must!
