Canada's butterflies,
By Biology teacher (Chicago, IL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Butterflies of Canada (Paperback)
This is a large-format, spiral bound book, not a field guide. It has adequate photos of the upper and under sides of the butterflies, as well as some shots of selected common butterflies in specific habitats. The range maps are nice. There is no key, so if you have a butterfly you don't know, you have to flip through the photos, then read the descriptions to see if they match. There are sections on "similar species" that you might confuse. There are a very few photos of caterpillars, but the text has descriptions of them and the host plants are listed.

A book for all naturalists,

This review is from: The Butterflies of Canada (Paperback)
The most perfect book about butterflies in a specific region ever made! It contains the latest information about all butterflies in Canada and it is well illustrated with 32 great colour plates covering all species (I think). This is the only book you need about butterflies in Canada.
