A racket of limited capabalities,
This review is from: Butterfly 8270 Naifu Table Tennis Racket (Sports)
I have always held Butterfly rackets in high esteem. Returning to table tennis after a gap of a decade, I decided to try this paddle to relearn the game. But I found my old form pretty soon and found this racket lacking in firepower.
This would be a good racket to start with if you are only just learning the ropes of table tennis. However, it falls short of expectations if you are a fairly advanced casual player. For my kind of game play (a mix of aggression and defense), it is quite hard to get good smashes or drives with this paddle. It is quite good on control though (as the manufacturers claim). Spin is not quite as good. For fast paced game play I would recommend a paddle with 2.0 mm sponge from my experience with this and other paddles.

Need to improve? Naifu is for you!,

I started playing a year ago and I've been playing with a Stiga Ultimate which has a 2.2 mm sponge. I wanted to work more on technique because I had been relying on spin too much. With the 2.2 mm sponge I was sending the ball long when I started to try looping so I figured I'd try the Naifu with the 1.5 mm sponge. It is MUCH easier to control the ball. I can give nice forehand or backhand looping stroke and keep the ball on the table. It's also easier to return a smash with the Naifu because of the thin sponge and lack of strong spin. The downside is that the spin and speed I was relying on in my offensive game to force my opponent to make a mistake is almost non-existent with the Naifu. I played with it for about 50 games and when I switched back to the 2.2 mm sponge, my game was A LOT better. Bottom line - use the Naifu to work on technique but keep your ego in check - you won't win too many matches against an experienced opponent but it definitely will help you to improve your game.

Good Starter Bat,
This review is from: Butterfly 8270 Naifu Table Tennis Racket (Sports)
This is a great starter bat for recreational TT/ Ping Pong. Good design of the handle allows proper grip and improve your play. Definitely recommended for the serious amateurs over the flat no-padding paddles that sell cheaply.
Butterfly is the best there is!

this is probably one of the best table tennis beginner bats there is. its alittle heavy but not enough to slow you down. the spin is ok and so is the speed. if you play close to the table then this paddle isnt good for you but if you play mid-distance then it should be a good one. the speed is ok too, the control is the best part. even if you arent that skilled ,you can still put the ball anywhere on the table you want easyily.

Good for beginners,

For the price, these are great quality, very lightweight, Okay spin, and pretty good control. Weather doesn't affect them too bad but to they get dinged up pretty easy when dropped. Overall pretty good :)

Good Starter Paddle,

I agree entirely with the previous review. It is a good starter paddle but as you progress in your game, you will need a stronger paddle.

The idea of paying less than twenty bucks for a table tennis racket, well, most of us occasionally serious players really wouldn't want to experiment with it. I mean, the more money one spends, the better his game should be, right? So why buy a $19 racket when you can buy one for a hundred bucks or more? I wanted to see what this could do. The one thing I noticed about this paddle is the control. Much better than any other racket I own. I like to spin the ball. A lot! But I do give up control by purchasing and using those rackets. This one spins but still, I have far more control over where I want to put the ball. Even more control on returning slams. I am impressed and will be using this a lot.

Beginner's racket,

This racket is only good for beginners, that is, children starting to play table tennis, and adults playing for fun. If you wish to start playing table tennis on a slightly more advanced level, then the purchase of this racket should be skipped.

Naifu - Great for beginners,

I bought the Naifu for my son who is beginning to play the sport and not to borrow racket from the gym. I like the feel of the flared handle. This is good racket to begin with becuase it has good control and consistency. Lets you work with your hitting form and power - therefore not depending much on the speed of the rubber but swing of the user. Great for beginners.

I bought two of these a while ago and they've held up pretty well. Yes, they're 1.5 mm sponges, but it's amazing what you can do with these well crafted paddles. Solid feel and hasn't come apart with more than 5 months of use. I had some very expensive 2.0mm sponge paddles that fell to pieces within a few months. Butterfly paddles are quality and this comes at an excellent price.
