The author eloquently articulates and captures the often ineffable emotions that men and women experience on the road to real love. Perhaps his greatest gift lies in his ability to narrate the journey so many of us travel. My favorite poem is "Patience" as it speaks to preparing yourself to receive real love and then being devoted to nurturing it once you have it. Some of my other favorites are "Only One Love", You Saved Me" and "Here for You". Actually, there's a bit of a tie between "Patience" and "You Saved Me" for the top spot as my favorite. I definitely recommend Butterfly Kisses as a must-read. You might also want to check out the author's first book, Verse-Art-Illery as well. It is equally as charming.

And the most amazing comparison is Marlon didn't need collaboration from dozens of poets to pull it off! Believe me, I'm a natural skeptic, hard-to-please, (and exceptionally but constructively critical) poetry lover. So naturally I searched for (but to my delight!) found NO weak links, and NO filler poetry! Page after page left me impressed at his ability to captivate, stimulate, and put new poetic moves on love-related themes. Marlon Williams has demonstrated that he is among the few contemporary male poets that has mastered the velvety smooth but steely touch that makes other men like myself, applaud and proud. It is an attractively designed must-have for your librairy, and a considerable bargain! Believe me-it will keep you and your loved one warm for many winters to come! Buy and enjoy it today!

I've never been one to like poetry, neither am I into reading it. I heard Marlon speak at a party, and I think I fell for him and his poetry. I really enjoyed this book. One of my favorites is "Trust" and "Daddy was never Home". To anyone who likes poetry, this should make you love it and to anyone who loves it, this should make you fall more in love with it. By me being a person who sings and writes songs, words are very important and meaningful and the words in Marlons' book are sure to touch your heart, they touched mine. I look to reading more of his work in the future.

I don't know what it is, but Mr. Williams' poems really hit home with me. Maybe it's because we seem to share similar experiences and love of the fairer sex. Or maybe its because he paints such vivid pictures with his street-inspired literary flourish. Perhaps it's the Brooklyn connection that binds us. What ever the reason, I have become a big fan of Williams, and can appreciate the growth of his work since he blessed us with Verse-Art-Illery.

I only hope that this modern-day renaissance man stays true to the game, and keeps his inspiring verses flowing!

This book has the incredible ability to awaken your emotional senses. Marlon's sentiments are written with such clarity and sensitivity that it can easily take you to another place. I have enjoyed reading a couple of poems for myself during a quiet evening and have also shared it with friends. Our group discussions of poems like "Thank You" and "Our Time" have led to stimulating conversations and many late nights.

I have given this book away as both a wedding and anniversary gift and received the most gracious thank you notes. People have said that it was such a unique gift and one they thoroughly enjoyed with each other.

Butterfly Kisses comes from the spirit of an old soul who is living in our time. To think that someone so young has such passion in his writing is simply amazing. His work has a real perspective on the most powerful thing which none of us are exempt.....L O V E.

....I rated this with 4 stars because after reading "Butterfly Kisses" I am certain that this author has alot more in store. It appears that this talent has been hidden or suppressed for far too long! I am intrigued by the variance of physical and emotional display in each of these 80 pages. It is an exhibit of a man with a wound outpouring a world of thoughts stemming from love, lust, gain, & lost! Open your wounds and you too will feel this book!!!! (...)

There is nothing hateable about BK.
From the entrance through the preface to the exit by the short story and afterword, the text is skillfully arranged and inundated with the joy of sharing love. Every word, phrase, sentence, paragraph is intricately placed into this mosaic celebrating love. The verses move along the gradients that cascade into the central theme. From the rush of the hunt to the sweet taste of bitter patience. From the thrill of spontaneity to the adoration of maturity and longevity in a love affair. From the innocence of the most missionary approach to the excitement of the most torrential encounter ... and the two are not necessarily mutually exclusive. From the most urban ebonics to the finest Shakespeare. The pieces are of love and for love. How to give and receive love completely ... with minds and souls connected and re-united.
Read BK from start to finish. Read it again. And enjoy a butterfly kiss.

I purchased the book on whim and was surprised and how good it is! I have read the entire book but not all at once. To truely enjoy it I simply open the book and start reading and without fail I am transformed to a new place full of imagery, erotica and truth....Marlon Williams is truly a poet of our time.

Marlon's ability to bring you into the emotion and imagery he is creating with each poem is tremendous. His sophomore book of poetry shows his progression and maturity. I look forward to reading more from Mr. Williams. He can't be done after Butterfly Kisses. Thanks for sharing your talent with us poetry lovers Marlon.

Absolutely blown away by the words, thoughts, and rhythm. The poem "Celestial Reasoning" is a POETIC MASTERPIECE... My favorite lines were "Lay their head upon her chest like Egyptian moonshine upon River Nile..." and "Rich as the Delta, seen only in silouhouette, for her silk copied their form." "Her valley veiled in a whisper of Venus!" This is just too nice to pass up!
