5.0 out of 5 stars Great for the Money!
I have read negative reviews about this purse that included complaints about the nylon webbing strap,(The nylon strap puts it in the same class as fanny packs!) the nylon fabric lining, the durability and the phone pouch being too small. Watch the commercial closely! The pouch is made for a CONVENTIONAL small flip-phone, NOT large non-folding phones!

3.0 out of 5 stars Buxton over the shoulder organizer, August 27, 2007

I bought this organizer purse to carry while on vacation last week; and although the leather is nice and the purse is easier to carry than a shoulder bag if you pack it very lightly, I was disappointed in the way things fit in it. The inside pockets are only secured with a flap, so if you happen to tilt the purse when laying it on the seat next to you, everything spills out. Small items like lipstick or pens are not secure. One of the outer zipper pulls came off the third day I carried it. It's very clumsy to carry if you load it up like they demonstrate on TV, which of course is why I bought the purse. I would not buy this item again.

3.0 out of 5 stars What fits, December 25, 2007
I bought this bag cause it looked like it held alot in a compact space. Here is what fits, it has a zippered compartment on the outside flap, it will hold something smaller than a length of a check book and I can put my fist in it but you probably don't want anything too bulky, in that you need to have the zipper closed or stuff will fall out. On the other side it has another compartment it will fit a checkbook size item, other than that it's the same as what I just mentioned. On the inside zippered mesh part, it will fit an item less than 3/4 th the length of a checkbook about fist size also. On the inside it has 2 seperate compartments one is stationary and that is the section that will expand a couple of inches by unzipping the outer zipper all the way around, it will hold about 2 1/2 paperback books and a brush on the side. The other compatment will fit about 1 1/2 paperback books it also has a zippered mesh compartment it will hold items about the length of a pen about fist size, it has 2 outer side zippers that will expand that section a couple of inches, but if you do that and fill both inner compartments the flap probably won't snap closed. Both the inner compartments have a couple of sections that will hold items about the size of a toilet paper roll. Yes it can hold a cell phone. the handle is canvas and expandable. So if you don't over fill the bag it will be fine, I don't know how they fit all that stuff from their commercial into the bag with out it being too bulky and unclosable. I like that it is leather on the outside and is over the shoulder and is compact.

2.0 out of 5 stars I thought this purse was ALL Leather., October 2, 2007

Buxton USED to be a name you could count on for quality. In fact, this product is advertised as LEATHER. Technically, it is...it's 1/3 leather, 1/3 plastic and 1/3 fabric. The canvas strap looks like something that belongs on cheap camping gear. If you're looking for style, this purse falls in line with a large, cheap fanny-pack. If you have a burning desire to over-pay for that, then this is the item for you.

1.0 out of 5 stars This bag is a piece of junk, January 5, 2008
If I found this bag at Goodwill for a buck, I wouldn't buy it. First off, my cell phone won't even begin to fit in the pouch. (Neither would three other peoples). It needs a hook or such to put your keys. The expandable part only gets bigger at the bottom, the top part is fixed, and I think it is too tight. I put two diapers, a travel size of baby wipes, a travel pack of kleenex and a travel size vaseline and the the thing was busting at the seams. There is no earthly way all the stuff on TV fit in there. I wish I had physically seen the bag before I bought it.

The nylon strap looks fine, and is considerably stronger than it would be if it were leather! If you want a GUCCI purse, go spend a hundred bucks! What in the world do people expect for $20.00 ??? This is a great purse for casual and everyday use, but it is not a suitcase or overnight bag! I think the durability complaints come from people that are OVERSTUFFING this purse. For the money, this is a great bag, and the cross-strap design really takes a strain off my back.

2.0 out of 5 stars If your looking for a bag to hold everything...this isn't it., May 6, 2008

The bag looks very roomy on the commercial, but that is very deceiving. One reason I ordered this purse was because I always carry too much and can never find anything in the bottom of my purse, so I ordered 2. After waiting more than 3 months for delivery, I got my bags. My first impression was..."this little thing?", but ever the optimist I decided to try it and am actually still using it (I'm determined to like this bag!). I made myself condense my purse contents and utilized all of the pockets, here is what I found. If I put anything in the main compartment, I have to remove everything in order to find anything. The opening is narrow and although the sides expand to hold more, the opening stays the same size so you still can't put very much in. If I look for anything in any of the zippered compartments, I still need to take stuff out to find things. The insider pockets are flimsy so if my purse is placed on it's side, I run the risk of things falling out without my knowledge. For instance, my ipod fits perfectly in the inside pocket, but when I pick up my purse , it is top heavy and if it tilts even a little, my ipod has fallen out. What a great idea this purse is, if only it was made just a little larger, it would do everything it says it does. I do love the outside cell phone pocket. I can only put a little hair brush in the purse, no other size fits without the handle sticking out the top and when I go to pull out my mini-brush, I pull everything else in the main compartment out with it. I am a very positive person and really, really wanted to love this purse. Unfortunately, it just doesn't deliver. I'm on a search for an organizer purse that really works like I wish this one did...any suggestions?

3.0 out of 5 stars It was just as I expected, January 24, 2008

For $20.00, I got what I expected. I have a bad shoulder and regular purses are too heavy. This purse crosses from one side to the other and does not put any pressure on my shoulder. It leaves both hands free and is easy to get into when shopping.

It should have a snap over the middle section because items like lipsticks can easily fall out when it is tipped over. My cell phone fits just fine, but I wish they had a space for eyeglasses on the outside.

The first zipper pocket is where I keep my money and it is very convenient there.

The commercial on TV shows a LOT of stuff going in the purse, but you notice she model never puts the purse on because it would be way too big.

But, for the price, I like it.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Love this bag, March 25, 2008
The soft leather is very nice. I like the cell phone holder being on the strap and very accessible. I like how the bag has lots of compartments and how it can be expanded. I was really sold on the bag for the fact that I can put my ebookreader with it's cover on in the handbag and not have to remove anything else to make room for it. You have to use common sense as to how full to stuff the bag. As long as I can carry my phone, glasses, ebookreader, and compact and comb - I'm happy.

2.0 out of 5 stars Poorly Crafted and Poorly Designed, May 12, 2008
I was hoping I'd like this bag because it looked so perfect for me.

But the zipper on the front pocket broke within the first 24 hours. Good zippers are solid or at least made of strong metal, but these bags are made so cheaply that the zipper pull pulls right on through a big gap with normal use. My mother has a second bag and the same zipper pull is regularly falling off but so far she keeps attaching it because she hasn't lost it ... yet.

As for having soft leather. I see that to be a problem because my bag is all scuffed up and worn a week into use. My mother's bag is also scuffed up like a much older leather.

On both our puses the shoulder strap has small frays starting.

Another design flaw...

My mother filled her bag up and it was so heavy that gravity pulls it into a position where the contents start dumping all over the place. And of course this happened in public so it was truly a pain.

Sadly, I haven't found a better alternative for years. The last four purses I've bought have all broke in some way within a few weeks.

2.0 out of 5 stars can it smell any worse?, February 9, 2008
By
Bugs "Pabuglady" (Slatington, PA USA) - See all my reviews
I got this to carry my camera and other small items when working in the field. It took longer they they quoted to get here and then when it did I opened the package.. and the smell was over whelming...

I don't know what kind of chemicals they are using in China to cure the "leather" but WOW its bad. My husband even walked into the room where the purse was and asked what the chemical smell was.

the good news is my camera will fit in it but will not hold nearly as much as i thought.
