Product Description

USA Made Ultra Speed Ropes! Very Fast and Smooth

We invented the design of the Ultra Speed Cable jump rope in 1998. There are many copies of our design on the market, but we have the best design.

We use USA made tough nylon coated cable. Cable from the other companies is stiff and kinks easily. Ours has great flexibility and is very kink resistant.

Huge variety of colors for handles and cables to choose from. This gives you the jump rope in your gym that you can personalize and recognize.

Originally used by competitive rope jumpers until Crossfitters discovered their value for doing the difficult Double Unders. Since that time, this rope has been a favorite in many CrossFit Gyms around the world. Has been used to set multiple National and World records. 5-7 jumps a second!

"These are hands-down the fastest and most durable ropes I've found. I've tried many different jump ropes and no matter what the price, they always seemed to break. The Ultra Speed Cable ropes hold up better than anything else and they are really affordable too I highly recommend these ropes. Tommy Hackenbruck, 2nd Fittest Man on the Planet. These types of cable ropes are deceptively simple but give you the greatest workout. I bought it specifically to use for double-unders it fits the bill.

Pros:
Adjustable length
Lightweight - more so than most ropes
Fast - this thing whips around as fast as your wrists can move it

Note that you must tighten the end nut very tight when you adjust the length of the rope. If you don't, you may accidentally land on the rope while jumping and have the end nut fly off into the grass. Nothing ruins a workout like spending 10 minutes searching for a tiny piece of metal in the park.

Starting CrossFit, my wife originally bought this rope for herself. Not satisfied that she hadn't perfected double-unders overnight, she quickly bought a different rope (thick plastic line) and gave this one to me. I purchased another length of 1/16-inch coated wire at the local hardware superstore and replaced the original (trimmed-for-her-height) cable.

I recently started CrossFit, too, and was able to compare other ropes to this one. I figure that ropes are an individual thing, so I'll provide my opinion: I like that the thinner cable is more responsive and "faster" than the thicker style of plastic-line ropes. The other folks in CrossFit that use the thicker ropes tell me that they like the heavier feel because they can "feel where the rope is". Each to their own.

This is a simple, easy-to-adjust rope... exactly what I need.

(Funny aside: At my wife's request, I recently replaced her rope's thick plastic line with another 1/16 coated cable. She should have just stuck with this one!)

I'm fairly petite; 5'1 and can't jumprope as well as a lot of people. The reason I purchased this rope was so it would not kink up. I don't have an interest in double unders or all those neat tricks just yet. I just needed something that wouldn't coil up if I jumped for more than 3 consecutive minutes and is adjustable. The problem I had with this rope is that there was a great deal of leftover wire once I adjusted it. It caught onto my clothes when I started to jump. I know someone else reviewed that it doesn't affect jumping but in my case, it does. It also makes a lot of noise. I jump in my basement on a mat and it makes a great deal of noise. The handles also are a bit small so if you have bigger hands than a 5'1 person then you might have trouble with this rope.

I have collected about 5 different types of speed ropes over the last few years from $5 to $40. These are definitely the best quality - very solid and simple construction. The rope itself is a thin metal cable surrounded by plastic, ends up feeling lighter that other ropes and much quicker.

However, there is no packaging at all other than a clear plastic bag with the product. Not even a label, so don't expect any instructions on how best to trim the rope, care for it, etc. There is nothing. I trimmed mine the same length as another plastic rope I have but because this one is metal it holds a different shape in the air as it spins, so turns out I cut a little too much (is a challenge to cut as the thin metal cable is tough, my wire cutters were not man enough for the job!).

Some product advice, instructions and care tips should really be a minimum with any product like this.

The product is 5 stars but have dropped it to 4 as no info at all with the product.

This jump rope is very simple...it is a thin plastic coated cable with plastic handles. It appears to me it will last forever. The cable makes this jumprope very fast, which is the point. The length is easily adjustable by a screw.

I began jumping rope several months back as my primary cardio routine. I started with a basic everlast 'speed' rope and developed decent technique. I decided to look for a 'faster' rope after awhile and thankfully I found this one. It is cheap to buy but offers the ability to skip rope at dizzying speeds. I love this thing and I use it at least 2-3 times a week. My coordination and speed have increased since I purchased it a few weeks back and I am very happy with this product.

The rope is excellent and the price is fair. The design is simple with a swivel inside each handle that facilitates turning of the rope allowing the user to focus more on wrist coordination and the jump. The application of a couple of drops of light oil or WD-40 inside each handle lubricates the swivel to turn even easier. The steel cable is light yet sturdy enough to not drag as it easily cuts through the air. It's recommended not to use this product on cement or asphalt promoting wear on the cable. My solution was to strip the jacket off a 24 inch multi-pair data/phone cable and place around the steel jump rope where it bows. I use the rope almost exclusively outside and notice scuffs on the jacket that will eventually have to be replaced. The jacket causes a bit more weight and drag but is a good trade-off since the rope performs so well. To be more consistent at double-unders I'll have to reduce the size of the jacket or remove altogether. A previous reviewer mentioned the adjustable collar and screw coming loose. I applied blue lock-tite to secure the screw before cutting the cable to size. It was a permanent cut anyway so if the collar screw ever does come loose or the cable breaks at the handle due to repeated misses on the jump it's will be a simple matter to replace with a permanent aluminum compression collar from any local hardware store. Another solution would be to leave enough tail end when cutting to tie a knot that will hold a loose collar onto the cable in case the screw does get lost. For someone that only does basic jumping with relatively few misses per session this rope should last years if properly maintained.
