Looking for a solution to connect my Dell Latitude to my HDTV...didn't want to spend a lot of money, however, wanted good quality. It is HD after all.

I tried a DisplayPort adapter, connected to a seperate HDMI cable...although this provided the image/sound that I was looking for, it was an unacceptable option due to the adapter size/weight sticking off the back of the laptop. Add the weight of the HDMI cable pulling on the adapter and made me uncomfortable.

Tried a different (Staples) brand all-in-one solution, identical to this cable, worked great, didn't have the size/weight factor of the adapter/cable combination. Was terrific. However, it cost $70. An acceptable hardware solution at an unacceptable cost.

Came to Amazon, searched for a better solution. Found this cable, was concerned about quality given its inexpensive price. WOW. Worked great. This was the solution that I was looking for. Acceptable hardware configuration, terrific image/sound quality, and awesome price.

I purchased the cable to connect a computer with a DisplayPort (Lenovo T500) to the HDMI input on my Sony TV. Once I figured out that not all of the available computer resolutions are going to work on the TV, it worked perfectly. The cable functioned exactly as expected (though a longer cable would have been useful for me).

If you are a Lenovo user, however, be warned that Lenovo doesn't send audio out the DisplayPort so you will need separate audio cables.

I bought this because I have a Dell Laptop that doesn't have HDMI port, only a DisplayPort, which is actually better. The problem is that my TV only has HDMI ports, two of them. So first I thought of buying an adapter, but thanks to God, I found this cable, which was cheaper than the adapter. So I saved from buying the adapter and also needing to buy the HDMI-HDMI cable.
I received it fast, and it arrived in good condition. When I tried it on my Sony Bravia, it displayed an error message "Invalid Format". I contacted the seller about this, and less than 2 hours later, I received a response that solved my problem. My output resolution was wrong, I changed it to a resolution compatible with my TV and it worked perfectly.
I also contacted Sony, but they responded they needed the exact model number.......useless.
The image and sound are of the highest quality, I'm happy since now I can finally watch my HD movies on my TV, since I don't have a standalone Bluray Player.

Totally recommended to buy if your PC only has DisplayPort and not HDMI. I think for now only DELL offers them, not sure. Anyways, if you want to watch your HD movies, this cable is cheaper than most DisplayPort-HDMI adapters.

Bought this for a Lenovo W510 laptop which only has DisplayPort, because I wanted to hook it up to my Sony Bravia LEDTV. I was a little concerned based on some of the reviews regarding difficulty getting the sound to work, but I had looked it up in advance, and it looked like my laptop supported the audio over DisplayPort, so I ordered this cable. You may want to check on your computer before ordering this, because not all manufacturers are supporting audio you may want to double check first.

Once connected, the video picked up automatically and went to the TV at full 1080p, looking great. The audio however required one additional step. On Windows 7, I had to go into the following:

Control Panels -> Hardware & Sound -> Sound

Under the Playback tab, select the TV (or device) you're intending to connect to, and if you set it to default, any time you connect to the TV it should automatically switch audio to the TV via the DisplayPort.

After that, it works great and sounds great. One cord seems to do it all. But be aware that not all laptops support audio, so if you can't get it working, it may not be the cable, but might be the computer itself is unable to use it. In that case, you may need an additional audio cable.

If you're looking for a DisplayPort converter to connect a computer to a monitor that has a DisplayPort it is not going to work. The only way it's going to work is if your computer has a DisplayPort out since DisplayPort in can ONLY receive a signal from a DisplayPort out! The only solution is to get a new graphics card to your computer that has a DisplayPort, I wish I would of known this before purchasing the monitor, but I hope this helps someone.

The release button on the display port side of the cable only half works. Only one of the hooks is lowered when I press the release button. Also the plastic feels very cheap. Basically useless because of very bad QC and materials. Very bad product.

I have a Lenovo t410 laptop that was issued to me for work that has a displayport port and I wanted to watch Hulu, youtube, HBO Go, etc. on my TV without buying a Roku or building an HTPC.

This cable works and lets my computer use my 46" Sharp LCD as a secondary monitor. You have to make the tv a primary audio device to get the sound but it is very easy and it will remember your settings.
