I bought this to mount on my ZTR lawn mower to fertilize my larger comercial accounts. It works great for that. It cut down my application time in half. Well worth the money and well built.

After spending a fair amount of time trying to determine the best way to use the included mounting hardware to mount the Buyers ATVS100 Spreader on a Yamaha Big Bear, I decided to use compression straps instead. This makes for easy on-and-off and the solution was surprisingly stable while in use -- no slippage on the rack either. The spreader plugs into the lighter socket on the Big Bear. Pretty slick. There is a quick disconnect on the spreader's wire near the spreader itself, so the wire can remain mounted on the ATV permanently if desired. I zip-tied the on/off switch to the handlebar where it can be operated with a left thumb. The Buyers ATVS100 Spreader made quick work of spreading 80 pounds of fertilizer -- think low-single-digit minutes while revving creeper gear. One improvement I'd suggest would be a shield that would prevent material from hitting the ATV as much -- I'm thinking about crafting one myself. Overall, it has great design and reasonable price. A quick hose-down after use should keep it in good shape for years of residential use.

Very poorly designed.1. Parts within contained sharp unfinished edges that will cut up your hands - did mine. 2. There is no "guard plate" to prevent product from being thrown under the ATV. That means that you'll be constantly throwing corrosive fertilizer at your undercarriage. 3. You actually have to PERMANENTLY attach this to your ATV. That's right! You have to thread it through your rack before finishing assembly, so if you want to detach it, you have to partially disassemble it! It also attaches with four u-bolts which you have to undo every time you want to remove it. You'll need a 10mm deep wall socket to tighten down the u-bolts (don't forget that!). I thought about attaching this with heavy duty zip ties to at least avoid the U-bold drama. Might work, but that's a small expenditure every time you want to mount it. Not a big deal, but after spending $150 dollars for such poor quality, I didn't feel like putting myself another cent in the hole. It went back before it was ever used. Although it seems "economical" compared to other spreaders, you're really not getting much more than a few dollars of plastic and metal (and a motor) which YOU have to assemble, and at that, the quality is very bad. Don't be fooled.

This spreader is everything it's cracked up to be. Just what I needed to get my seed out and then fertilize it as well. Just had a lot of work done to the yard and needed to cover a large area in the least amount of time to catch the forecasted rain. Found out that it will work not only on 4-Wheeler but the larger ATV as well. Very easy to assemble and use. Easy to clean and has a rain cover, which is a nice addition to the unit. I think anyone looking for a good ATV Spreader would really like this one.

Overall this spreader is built cheap. I had to go to the hardware store and get several nuts and bolts to replace the originals. The hopper clogs too easy and will not spread seed without you stiring your hand in the hopper to free the clogs. I would not recommend this spreader to anyone. Look around, there's better out there for the money!!

PoorOperation,
This review is from: Buyers ATVS100 100-Pound 12-Volt Electric ATV Broadcast Spreader with Rain Cover (Lawn & Patio)
This thing is a poor excuse for a spreader. There's no instructions for setting the release amount. The adjustment for setting the release amount will not stay set in the same place. The release opening gets clogged easily - no matter what kind of material being released. Had to throw away the on-off switch and hot wire it since the switch was bad from the begging. A total waste of money!!
