Buying a book on Mental Manipulation defeats the purpose

I find it somewhat disturbing that people would actually buy a book on mental manipulation...that is like buying a book on self-help...if the author is helping you then your not really helping yourself, it should be rather called "this person is going to manipulate your mind with their writing style, marketing tactics, and their views on the world". Buying a book on Mental Manipulation already defeats its purpose at the checkout, because mentally your telling yourself your manipulated and thus buying a book through marketing and advertising (a form of mental manipulation) to break out of manipulation?
