This review is from: Buzz and Ollie's Steady Beat Adventure (Hardcover)
I bought this product for my piano student who had problems with rhythm. The book is nice, colorful and easy to read, etc. But I was expecting a CD or something to go with it, so that the sounds that were mentioned in the book are audible. Instead, it's just a book, which mentions the sound of raindrops, hammering the nails, clock ticking, etc. Without the actual sound, how does a child learn the "steady" beat? She can imagine all she wants, but if she doesn't have the steady beat system in her, her imagination would not produce steady beat.
I'll have to record all these sounds that are mentioned in this book in order for it to be helpful, which is really time consuming and a lot of trouble. To me, this seems an incomplete product. Or am I missing something? I really couldn't believe there was no CD or anything to go along it.
I'll have to contact Sloan Publishing to find out how to use this book effectively as it is, without sounds. Ugh.....

A Steady Beat of Fun, January 30, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Buzz and Ollie's Steady Beat Adventure (Hardcover)
This is a fun, easy to read children's book that is a wonderful way to introduce children to musical concepts. The colorful illustrations, the fun rhymes and the interesting characters make this an adventure I'm sure glad I didn't miss. The authors have done an excellent job in making learning fun. My grandson loved it. I could see this book series as a great tool for reading time in a classroom setting, too.
