5.0 out of 5 stars Buzzing around
I have few heroes. Ben Watt is one of them. This man could survive any disaster. He was Everything But The Girl for a while. Lately he's been doing lazy Dog. You have heard the tracks. Buzzin' Fly is a nightclub where they throw down so deep house with a Brazilian touch. This CD starts out with Rodamaal "Musica Feliz" which uptempo bossanova. There is a lot of...

2.0 out of 5 stars ZZZZZzzzzz......
ZZZZZzzzz...uh, oh, hello! Sorry, I must have been sleeping. I was listening to this new CD I bought, Buzzin' Fly Volume One, and I fell asleep, it was so boring. While asleep I dreamt I heard Terence Trent D'Arby, and he was still singing off key! Didn't he change his name to protect the innocent or something? Anyway, this is no Lazy Dog (even my lazy dog Barney thinks...

There is a lot of dub and remixes on here. There are some cool tracks by Ben Watt and Automagic and Soldiers of Twilight. Even Maitreya makes an appearance (that is what Terence Trent D'arby calls himself these days). Probably the most interesting song here is a remix by Ben Watt of the Minneapolis band Low. Their song "Tonight" is the epitome of slowcore and has a gospel feel. On this jamming remix it sounds like am Ibiza anthem. You couldn't even think it was the same band. I was thinking when I saw this, could this be Low? That is what great dance music does sometimes: it makes strange connections and even stranger affinities.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid & deep, January 30, 2006

This is a solid mix, but i would also have to argue that the second album is a bit better. But - get em both & decide for yourself, you won't be dissapointed.

What an incredible house mix. One of the hottest deep house collection I've ever heard. There's only one word to describe it, " Marvelous".

4.0 out of 5 stars Very nice, April 27, 2006
This review is from: Buzzin' Fly Volume One (Audio CD)
I bought the second in this series expecting it to be as good and i was let down. Nit that it was bad but rather that i had expectations that it was going to be as good as this superb bit of house music for the soul.

3/4 are my standouts, but go see for yourself this cd brings the mood for whatever occasion. I've even sped up a few songs from this cd and played them in my club and there was not a but on a chair in the whole place. so for the people that say this cd is for lounging only, sorry listen again.

Just got Buzzin Fly Volume One and let me tell you (please)! What a well-melted liquid groove; consistently the best subtle builds, just picking you up and not letting you down. Definitely a London sound.....would love to plays this to the way cool Toronto groovers! Checkout Ben in his own Neighborhood if you can!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Deep House, April 20, 2004

This is a great deep house collection. It is loungey enough to play late in the evening but still has enough of a beat to keep you movin'. It's as good as Miguel Migs and in my opinion actually a bit better. Kudos, to Ben Watt for making a house CD everyone can love.

Can't go wrong with Ben Watt generally speaking. Good for chilling, Saturday morning and Sunday night. I listen to this album a lot.
