More About the Author

Dick Peterson is a native of Baton Rouge. His banking career landed him in the Kansas suburbs of KCMO in 1992. Since retiring, Dick loves being a fulltime author and former banker. He calls himself a Kansan by residence, a Missourian by retirement, a Louisianan by birth, Southern by the grace of God, and a Tybee Islander at heart.

When Dick is not writing, he spends his time reading, bicycling, swimming, golfing, and hanging out with his wife, Suzie, with whom he shares a passion for playing Scrabble on Kindle and rolling some Shut the Box after breakfast, dinner, and supper. They love to travel, especially to spend time near Savannah, Georgia, at The Doozy, their beach house on Tybee Island, as well as visiting their grandchildren and their supporting staffs in Louisiana and Oklahoma.

Dick takes pride in bleeding purple and gold for LSU and for being a member of the Who Dat Nation. During baseball season, he has been known to spontaneously holler "Lets go, Royals!" How 'bout that World Series run, huh? Dick also proudly admits to the guilty pleasure of loving Jayhawk basketball.

I loved this book. In this author's first offering he demonstrates a flair for dialogue that engages the reader and brings his characters to life. The novel is part romance and part crime thriller reminiscent of early Mary Higgins Clark. I hope the author will not be offended by an association with Mary Higgins Clark whose blend of romance with crime has always been a favorite of mine. Romance aside, the crime portion of the book is as graphic as a Kay Scarpetta autopsy. I highly recommend this book and look forward to the author's next offering.

I must admit that I am not an avid reader. A book has to be very interesting and captivating in order to keep my attention. By the time I finished the first chapter of this book I knew it was going to hold my attention and would be difficult to put down. Peterson did a great job of painting a picture of his main character, and I enjoyed the blending of mystery along with romance. He makes you wonder what is going through his character's mind letting out little bits and pieces along the way further reeling in his readers. His use of familiar places and people give the book a realistic feel. Well done for this author's first publication.

Don't download this one unless you have time to read it through. You won't put it down. Suspenseful, intrigueing and imaginative. Very few authors hold my attention, but Peterson takes you on a spellbounding trip with a serial killer that leaves nothing to the imagination. He creates characters that you will want to read about again. The folksy, downhome narratives and obvious intamacy of Peterson's knowledge of places and sidenotes makes this book one that puts you in the action as though you too are living the nightmare of tracking a serial killer. Buy it, read it, and hope Peterson puts more out there for our enjoyment.

I would recommend this novel. I enjoyed it immensely and found it difficult to put down as the author teased you to read on. The author wove his story so smoothly in descriptions and locations that I felt I was there on site.
I am a neighbor of Dick Peterson and see him mowing his lawn methodically but now know his mind is clicking away probably conjuring thoughts for his next book.
I look forward to his next book.
Onward and Upward!

The author has evidently done his homework on both the geographic areas as well as the mind of a serial killer. Unlike many other books of this genre it's not overloaded the additional characters that confuse the plot. Good summer reading.

I met the author "Dick Peterson" at a KU Basketball game and he gave me his business card as I was ringing up his purchase. He's a very outgoing and friendly person. It was great to meet him and his wife. I am a huge Murder Mystery and romance reader. Well, this book was everything I thought it would be and more. He is so detailed and descriptive in his telling of the story. He made it all come together in a way that was captivating from the beginning to end. Hope to read more from Mr. Peterson soon. I loved it.

"By The Light" is well worth the purchase. Peterson has a real flair for language, character and suspense. His tale has the chills you want from a serial killer thriller and the warm human touch of romance. You won't be disappointed.
