Soft, strong and light!,

We purchased two of the Byer of Maine Blue Traveller Hammocks a couple of years ago for both daypacking and overnight trekking trips. They are very comfy, no static, very strong, very light -- a snap to set up AND they dry very quickly -- which in Colorado is a real bonus with our afternoon summer showers. What more could you want in lounging comfort! Our young teen sons gave them both a real workout this weekend and they held up without showing any wear or tear. So now we've bought two more -- because next time around, we'd like everyone to have their own ; - )

I have been sleeping in a Mayan hammock for about 5 years now...I really love it! I have had back trouble for 20 years, but when I sleep in my hammock, I rarely have any stiffness or soreness.
Unfortunately, due to an illness, my hammock was ruined (you don't want to know). Since I cannot recall who I ordered it from, I am back to shopping, and bought the Byer of Maine as a fill-in. The first time I used the Byer hammock, I thought, "Wow! This is great! A real bargain! A little small for me (I'm six-foot-one, and 200 lbs), but that's not a real problem." Then I slept in it that first night. Sometime during the night, the cords on the head side began to stretch. And stretch, And stretch. I was nearly dumped out the side. Upon examining the hammock, I discovered that the cords on one side (the head-and-shoulder side) had become a few inches longer than on the other side. Remember, I'm not a novice at this; I know how to use a hammock. But this thing mystifies me. It seems possible to pull on the cords a bit, and they *will* slip some, and adjust other cords, but not in any predictable fashion...at least not that I can figure out. I've got it adjusted...a bit...and it is usable...sort of, but I'm not terribly happy with it. It's okay, I suppose, and it was only $20 US, but still...a hammock should not be this complicated. I'm back to looking for a good Mayan hammock. Sigh.

This appears to be a well made, low cost product. The actual item is a bit more cheap in feel and look than I had presumed from the picture. It's made of parachutte material and is nylon like material. When the wind blows it catches the wind like a parachute and fills with air.
Overall it's comfortable....and a low cost item too.
