Great Video!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Byrne's Standard Video of Pool & Billiards - Volume 1 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Byrne is a master at teaching the fundamentals for a great pool stroke. In the first video he goes through all of the basic fundamentals required to give the student a cleaner more consistant stroke. He also begins to teach some of the basics of cue ball control. I highly recommend this video for players of all levels. I also recommend that you find Volume 2 (advanced techniques) and volume 5 Power Pool Workout (by far the best pool workout video on the market! )

AHEAD OF THE CROWD!!!!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Byrne's Standard Video of Pool & Billiards - Volume 1 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
There are an enormous amount of videos out there that attempt to teach the game of pool. This one is, by far, the best one out there. Most pool learning videos try to teach skills that are above the beginning player's head. The others teach you very little, then go into an hour of trick shots. Yes, they're cool, but they don't win games. Byrne's video teaches the beginning player the necessary fundamentals to play the game of pool. Together, his incredible ability to play the game, along with his effective way of conveying his message, makes Robert Byrne an extremely good instructor. I highly recommend this video for ALL pool players.

76 year old Grandma learns to shoot Pool,

Yes Grandma can learn a new game, mine did with the help of Byrne's video tape. The video explains all the basics of shooting pool and gives a review of each segment so you can get the important points firmly in mine before the next topic. Once he gets past the bare basics the really good info is presented which is helpful to the beginner as well as the intermediate player. If you want to improve your game or just understand the dynamics of Billiards buy this tape.

The most helpful pool video,

Bob Byrne's volume I&II is the best training video I have seen. The way he explains the shots and then shows you on a small table, then on a real table. He explains hiself as to how the cue will do cetain things and how it should react after hitting the ball and coming off the rail.Gives you new ways of hitting the cue ball or spinning the cue.I purchased both volume I&II and have let others borrow it. Now I have lost volume I to someone and I am in the process of buying another. Also wanting to order volume V and Rackem Up.Others who are wanting to learn the basic's an more without have to pay someone for lessons ought to check these video's out.

After watching the video one time - my aim is more consistent and so are my shots! The video has helped tremendously. He takes you back to the basics that fine tune your game and make it a lot more fun, and a more challenging mind game as well.

Best of the bunch,

If you only buy one instructional video on pool, make it this one. All the others (I have most of them) cannot hold a candle to Byrne. He makes learning pool and practicing fun.

excellent in every sense, one starts wondering why other advanced pool volumes (videos) by same author are not available at amazon for sale. Hope rest of the volumes shall be available at Amazon or info as to where on the internet they may be had.

Great content, excellent presentation, poor sound quality,
By A Customer
This review is from: Byrne's Standard Video of Pool & Billiards - Volume 1 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is undoubtably the best tape for beginners and intermediate players. Byrne covers the aspects of stance, bridges, stroke, aiming, draw, follow-through, english, breaking, banking, and throw. The sound quality does not match the rest of the tape, which is done very professionally. It seems the sound engineer likes to see the needle hit the red, which I found quite annoying. Other than that, this is an excellent instruction video worthy of his books. Now if only Amazon sold the OTHER 3 tapes in this series.....
