Customer Reviews

Just as good as the high priced brackets sold elsewhere.

It worked really well, and the plastic didn't feel flimsy or cheap at all.

After trying several different options, this one worked for me.

Other products had holes that didn't line up with the SSD or the brackets from the case. Not the case with this one, everything lined up perfectly. The plastic works for me as it's one less piece of metal in the case to vibrate and make noise.

My only complaint is that the drive sits too far forward in the mount, which made the SATA power a little tricky to fit. I had to mount the SSD to the top mount on the kit. I didn't try, but I think that it would be difficult to actually mount two drives in this kit. However, at 6.99 each, who cares?

As a side note, this kit is being used to mount a Corsair Performance Series SSD (128GB). The SSD holds only the OS and program files while I use several other HDD for documents, images, etc. My experience with the drive has been fantastic, I've at least doubled my speed. I highly encourage anyone looking at SSD tech to take the plunge.

I bought this to install a new SSD, but also wanted to be able to use it in a removable drive tray (can't)

Pros: relatively inexpensive
can install two 2.5" drives
includes mounting hardware (screws)
If the drive is properly mounted in this adapter, the connectos are even with the rear of of it so they are easily accessible.

Cons: description doesn't mention it's made of plastic. Contrary to another review
the plastic is not hard like Bakelite, it's more the consistency of a fan blade
can't use a single drive (SATA) in a removable drive tray as it centers the drivea in the adapter. Thus the SATA connector is not in the same position as a full 3.5" SATA drive.

I prefer the Icy Dock product 2.5" To 3.5" Ssd/sata Convert as it fully emulates the form factor of a 3.5" SATA drive

I needed this to mount my new SSD into my hard drive cage as it didn't have the proper mounting points for this new drive. It worked really well, and the plastic didn't feel flimsy or cheap at all. It was also nice to see that the screws didn't strip out the plastic making it impossible to use again too. I have purchased a newer case since then, and it has the proper mounting points in its cage so I no longer need this specifically for that drive. This is great for someone who plans on modding out an older case and needs a way to safely secure their SSD.

Fits well, comes with screws and makes mounting multiple small drives easy. I used this for 4 laptop HDDs in a RAID 10, took all of 10 minutes to install all 4 HDDs and put into case.

Not much to say about it. It's a piece of plastic. >.> Will purchase again if I have a need to.

Pros
- Holds two drives
- Comes with HDD Screws and bracket mounting screws

Cons
- Not metal, but a hard plastic, similar to what the frame of case fans are made of. The down-side to this is in the next item.
- No threaded screw holes. This isn't really a huge con either, more of a minor inconvenience. Since it's plastic, the bracket mounting screws are coarse thread to bite the plastic material. But in specialty cases like my Antec 900, they use proprietary screws (one thing I didn't like about the case, but that's another review). So I have these very long (1") machine screws for HDD mounting that I now have to force into this plastic designed for coarse thread. In the end it worked fine but DO NOT overtighten, just get them snug-ish. They will strip out very easily using machine screws, but they will hold.
- Plastic doesn't offer any cooling characteristics though it shouldn't be a problem with SSDs. Conventional laptop drives though could benefit however-much from a metal bracket.

Other
- Not reversible (can't mount backwards due to screw positions on the sides. Could be nice to push the SSDs out a bit into the case in some larger case installs.. Not really a con but... You can mount the SSD in backwards, but can't mount the caddy in the case backwards IF you're case has only two standard holes (like the Antec 900). Other cases with more conventional mounting holes will allow for this to be reverse mounted.)

Purchased this in order to install a couple spare laptop 2.5" drives in my desktop. It was one of the cheaper ones I saw online, and it was able to mount two drives. One issue was that the drives were so close together that it made it a tight fit for the SATA power connectors on the cable that came with my powersupply. Also, it is made of plastic, so hopefully heat transfer will not be an issue.
