BYZANTIUM is definitely different in style and sound from the previous releases which is what makes it so great! There is something for EVERYONE on this cd. My personal favorite PARKBENCH (Toby Pipes). It somewhat of personal meaning to myself, but only TOBY could "take you there..." CHECK it out! And guys the new one is coming soon.... (SPACE STATION EARTH)

Following Deep Blue Something's major label release of Home with the hit Breakfast at Tiffany's they came into legal trouble over the copyright to their indie release 11th Song, their hit song Breakfast at Tiffany's and fired band member Kirk Tatom. All this and Interscope wanted to hold this album put the band in a bind and this album was released only in Japan and Europe. It appears the band finally got the rights to their material and it's now under their drummer's label Kirtland Records.

Enough history though. The important thing is this is probably their most daring album they've ever made. There aren't any songs resembling Breakfast At Tiffany's on here, but the songs which are on here are amazing. The band dabbles in Dream Pop with amazingly crafted songs like Parkbench, Dr Crippen and Pullman Washington, all easily fitting into the top 10 songs DBS has ever done in my opinion. They also have a lot of great punchy rock songs, such as Cherry Lime Rickey, Tonight, William H. Bonney and Light The Fuse.

Following this release, Deep Blue Something released a self titled album and borrowed 5 tracks from this and put them on it. Even if you already own the s/t Deep Blue Something, and don't want to buy the repeats, removing the 5 tracks and treating it as a 10 track album of different material, you will still have an oasis of amazing under appreciated rock.

If you buy only one Deep Blue Something album, make it this one.

As you can probably guess from the title, I got this cd very cheap from a clearout sale in a music shop. Because of this I assumed it would be no good, but I really like it. Most of the songs are good, and they are quite varied which i like. My favourite is 'Pullman, Washington', sang by Todd. I only wish it included 'breakfast at tiffanys', but it is good enough without it!
