Well, i cant see he's as good as bone thugz, but he is definitely reppin cleveland to the fullest. Some great tracks on here, well-produced, and hes got an original-sounding flow. This isnt necessarily a MUST-have, but it's worth coppin right quick

I was recently listening to Sirius Satellite radio and "The Payback" comes on The Wonder Twinz show via Hip Hop Nation. Immediately I began nodding my head to the beat and hearing this cat spit fluid rhymes so I think to myself "Finally another respectable MC is emerging and hip hop is on it's way back to rhyme skillz". Wrong, I ordered this CD from here on amazon and listened to the album front to back left feeling cheated. Most of the songs on the album are mediocre at best chock full of club bangers. Lyrically Ray Cash could be a legendary MC from a city where lyricist are rare, instead the album is more geared towards the appeal of today's generation of "hip hop" fans. The overall production on the album is nice but the content is all too familiar. If you're a fan of lyricsim I wouldnt recommend picking this one up. If you like club bangers and southern type rap music this may be a gem you're willing to cop. Maybe his sophmore album will be a little less mainstream and focus more on his content.

Overall Album Breakdown: 1-5
Lyrics (content/delivery) 3.5
Production 3.5
Guest appearances 4
Replay value 3

Stand out tracks: (The Payback, Here I stand, Better Way feat. Beanie Sigel)

3.0 out of 5 stars Ray Cashes In {3 Stars}, July 12, 2006
This review is from: C.O.D. (Audio CD)
I'd really like to examine the music collections of the people giving this five stars. I'm guessing that most of these people are listeners from the "post-Diddy" era. The fact that most of the 4 and 5 star reviews come from Cleveland/Midwest residents isn't a coincidence either.....so can you really expect them to be objective? Probably not.

The fact is, this isn't a bad album. There are some pretty good tracks on the album and the production is good for the most part. "The Payback" has a nice beat and the scratches and cuts are tight. Ray seems to be at his best when he actually has something to say though. "Better Way", "Here I Stand", and "F*ck Amerikkka" would be perfect examples of that. "Bumpin' My Music" is tight. I think most of us know that already. "Livin' My Life" and "The Bomb" help to bolster the rest of the LP. The sound of the album is bass heavy and dark, but it works well for Ray.

I noticed cats saying that Ray Cash is bringing back lyricism. From what I hear, Ray Cash is good...but let's slow down with the "great" talk. Just because a rapper doesn't suck doesn't make them great. There's a middle ground between the two extremes -- average. Ray seems to fall flat when he lowers himself and covers the average, everyday topics that every thug of the week is covering (pimpin', "haters", drugs, money, etc..). There are a few passable tracks on the album like "Sex Appeal (Pimp In My Own Mind)" and "Dope Game" which suffer from boring production. Also, "Smokin and Leanin", "P***y A** N***as", and "Fiends Fiends Fiends" are pretty much skip material.

Cash On Delivery is a solid release. It's nothing out of this world, but you won't be mad at yourself for buying it. The production for the most part is solid, but what Ray Cash has to say isn't anything you haven't heard already. Like I said already, Ray seems to be at his best when he actually covers topics worth hearing. But since that happens on less than half the album, I can't give him four stars. I'd recommend that those that are iffy about getting this go ahead and download it first. I'm curious as to what his next album is going to be like though.

Standout Tracks: Livin' My Life, Bumpin' My Music feat. Scarface, Here I Stand, The Payback (My Favorite), F*ck Amerikka, The Bomb feat. Yummy, and Better Way feat. Beanie Sigel

4.0 out of 5 stars peep game, July 2, 2006
This review is from: C.O.D. (Audio CD)
listen i notice some cats feel this and some don't. i feel most of the beats on this because they are cold and dark. that is what basically the environment of cleveland is 7 months out of the year. being one of the coldest and snowiest cities in the country, you got to reflect that in your subliminal. cats from the south may think they are going to like this album because of bumpin my music, but there are some beats that are not like that. famerikkka, the payback, dope game, here i stand, better way, take it how you want to, are 6 tracks that may not appeal to cats from the west coast or the south. so this album might be kind of regional in its appeal, which is to be respected. cash is being what he is and not trying to be what he ain't. this is a quality cd and a great cd for a first time out the box. west coast geez and southern hicks need to cop this just to peep game and see how cash is puttin it down. big up to the chi-town, the motor, the twins, ill-waulkee, nap-town, the natti, co-co, and of course cell block C. that's cleveland for those who did not know. and we ain't claimin st louis because st louis is wack and reps the midwest like garbage. peace.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great album from a Cleveland rapper, May 14, 2009
This review is from: C.O.D. (Audio CD)
When it comes to Cleveland, Ohio they are not well known for rappers besides the rap group Bone Thugs N Harmony, I remember living in the outskirts of Cleveland and I met somebody who was from the Eastside of that city and he told me about this rapper named Ray Cash. At first I thought he was just another underground artist from Cleveland and it turned out I was wrong when I heard he was signed to Sony/Columbia. His song "Sex Appeal" was getting a good ammount of radio play on the Local Cleveland station Z107.9 and I thought the song was just adverage and nothing too special. His album C.O.D.: Cash On Delivery was then released and I figured I should check it out... I WAS AMAZED!!! The album was great. Right when I heard the song "The Payback" I knew I was in for a ride through the 216.

Overall, the album is a great piece of work and recommended for people who want to check out Cleveland rap music

Solid CD from a proclaimed GRINDER. Ray Cash is lyrical and his flows show influence from all the great MCs. Great debut to rep Cleveland-(STAND UP). BONE opened the door; Ray Cash walked in to the kitchen table; Cleveland make sure you let him EAT; Ray make sho you leave some left-overs!
