Together with the CET toothbrush, I've used this toothpaste for years with my cats. They like the taste, and most importantly, it's safe for cats to swallow. This is in contrast to human toothpaste, which is not meant for animals and can be dangerous for them to swallow. I read good reviews for this brand in the animal health literature.

It contains two active enzymes - Glucose Oxidase and Lactoperoxidase. These are supposed to help fight against tartar (similar to hydrogen peroxide, which is used in some other pet toothpastes). Interestingly, you won't see fluoride in pet toothpastes, as it is not considered safe for them to swallow.

The only issue I have with this toothpaste is that it's not very abrasive, so over time tartar still builds and I have to bring in my cats for teeth cleaning every couple of years. This is still a lot better than yearly teeth cleaning, though, as most cats need to be put under general anesthesia for this, which has some risks and is pretty expensive as well.

Yes, of course my dog loves the chicken flavor, but despite of that, she really dislike to have foreign objects in her mouth (either my finger nor tooth brush). and i have a feeling that my dog is not the only one...she is really sweet and would never bite, but she moves her head around, and by the end of the procedure my hands covered in paste and dog's saliva. It takes long time and I am not even sure if that effective, because i cant get to deep in her mouth. I think im gonna stick with dental treats =)

I have used this product for a couple of years on my 2 large dogs. I had never cleaned or brushed my older dog's teeth (she is now 13 yrs old and there was quite a bit of tarter buildup). I bought my first couple of tubes of this CET toothpaste from our vet, but the price per tube was rather high so I tried a couple of other brands purchased at the local pet store and discount store. Those were satisfactory but my dogs liked the taste of the CET the best and therefore brushing their teeth is much easier with happy dogs. I was happy to find this site which sells the same CET toothpaste as my vet but for about 1/3 of the cost per tube. I can honestly say that this product is far superior to the other brands I have purchased. It took a little patience and time in the beginning for my dogs to get used to having objects used in their mouths (I began with past on my finger, then used the fingertip rubber brush, and finally used the toothbrush). Now they come to me each night eager to have their teeth brushed. My older dog's teeth are now almost white. (Go easy on the brushing as a dog's tooth enamel is softer than ours.) As with humans, daily brushing not only promotes good oral hygiene but it also lengthens the dog's life.
I highly recommend this product.

All three of my cats like the taste of this toothpaste. It's easy to get them used to having their teeth brushed if you use one of the mini-toothbrushes, just take it very slowly and let them get used to having it touch their front teeth at first, then slowly start bringing the brush to their molars and pulling back gently on their mouth to expose the teeth a little. My cats figured out pretty quickly that I wanted them to open their mouth more and usually follow along because they like the taste.

I have tried the seafood flavor as well, but my cats definitely prefer poultry flavor.

I have been buying this product at the vet for more than twice what Amazon charges. None of the pet stores carry it in my area so I ordered 10 at a time from Amazon and make the shipping cost worth it. My pugs love it as much as their treats and according to the vet if you don't use the enzymatic formula you might as well skip the brushing altogether.

All my cats love the toothpaste and it makes brushing a bit more bearable for them. My Beagle practically drools until its his turn and thinks its great. The poultry was more tastey than the malt flavor for the cats and they didn't have chicken breath afterwards. It does greatly improve their breath even with the flavoring because bad breath is actually caused by bacteria in your pets mouth and the toothpaste is scrubbing it off of their teeth. Love CET products, the toothpaste is great to use in combination with the chews.

This toothpaste came highly recommended by my vet following my dog's first dental cleaning. The vet mentioned that since the toothpaste is "enzymatic", a quick once-around my dog's outer gumline every 1-2 days would do (apparently it takes plaque 24-48 hours to harden into calculus, which can only be removed in a veterinary dental cleaning, so practicing good dental hygeine is key -- just like with humans!). Anyway, my dog LOVES the poultry flavor, and just as other reviewers mentioned, it's like "treat time" every time I brush her teeth. In the past, I never got in the habit of brushing my dog's teeth, but she's taken to this much better than expected (thanks to the yummy toothpaste I'm sure!), so I'm glad this seems like something I can incorporate easily into our daily routine. The only reason I gave C.E.T.'s poultry-flavored toothpaste 4 stars instead of 5 is because I'm waiting for our next annual vet exam to see if this truly proves to be the "wonder product" it's touted to be!

On a sidenote, I also purchased the C.E.T. enzymatic dog chews (they're like rawhide), and my dog wasn't a fan. She turned her nose up at them and walked away. I can't believe she prefers the cheap rawhide I buy at the grocery store to these prescription-grade dental chews! Go figure...

One of my cats is prone to gingivitis and brushing her teeth is very uncomfortable and not a happy experience for her. She loves the flavor of this toothpaste and that makes it better for her, it helped me to get started with the tooth brushing again. I started by giving her some paste on the brush and letting her smell it. She immediately went to eat it, this made the transition smoother. Now I am brushing her teeth and even when she does not like it she endures it as best as she can. I am very happy with this paste.

Ever since our vet gave us a CET poultry toothpaste sample, my lab has loved getting her teeth brushed. She also doesn't accumulate as much plaque or tartar either...great product!!

All dogs should get their teeth brushed on a daily basis. We use this toothpaste on baby toothbrushes and they love it. They even get compliments for how good they are when getting teeth exams. We've been able to put off teeth cleanings to every 2-3 years instead of the recommended yearly cleanings!

This toothpaste has no artificial sweeteners, which are toxic, and has enzymes to keep off plaque. Did I mention my dogs love it!!
