candiria rules, i am suprised,

well, i was told by a friend how awesome candiria is. I have never heard them before. so today i was in a store and i was looking for something cool to buy. i found various cds that i would have liked to purchase. i was about to make a said purchase when i happend to remember my said friend saying how good they are and that i should check them out. now, i hardly ever make a purchase without hearing the band before, i can count on my hand the number of times i have done this and proably still have some fingers left over. well anyway, i went to the candiria section and bought the only cd they had one of them, which is obviously this one. Well, I must say i am pretty blown away by them. they blend rap, jazz, and metal like no other band i've heard. i mean, this isn't some faint jazz beats they have put in the music: it's jazz to the core. there is one song on here that has bongo drums, screaming, and heavy guitar...all at the same time, blending into a awesome song. This is probalby the most diverse metal band I have ever heard. track 3 and 11 are pure instrumental jazz tracks, and track 6 is a shorter instrumental that lends amazingly into the chaos that is track 7. there is another disk that comes with this but I will not say anything about it. it's just a preview of the artists that are going to be on candiria's own record label THE COMA IMPRINT. some of the songs on there are crap but a few are decent. basically, this disk is a throwaway and i won't ever listen to it again. thankfully, even with this double cd set, it's still regular price so you are still only paying for the amazing candiria cd. I have been told that this is a remastred, rerecording of one of their first, hard to find cds, all the songs have been added too and stuff. pretty cool idea if i do say so myself. all in all, this my first candiria album and it will not be my last. i will buy another from them ASAP :)

When I found out that Candiria was re-releasing Beyond Reasonable Doubt with new tracks and a new mix, I immediately donned an ear-to-ear smile. Beyond Reasonable Doubt (for anyone who isn't familiar, BRD was released before Process of Self-Development; this album is essentially just a re-release of that album with several new tracks and several tracks excluded) easily ranks up there with Process of Self-Development in my humble opinion, and is more cohesive and complicated in the same breath."Paradigm Shift" easily is representative of just about everything Candiria does; I catch myself laughing at some of the transitions because they manage to stay together despite their complexity. About my only complaint about the CD is some of the changes in the mix; for instance, in the original mix for "Faction," I could have sworn that during the first funk/bassline breakdown that there was a piano somewhere in the back. On this disc, it's completely gone. Disappointing, but such is life -- On the other hand, the group's decision to cut the vocalist from Shutdown's guest vocal contributions from the same song is more than welcome. Shutdown, yuck. *shudder*

RAISING the BAR,

As I walked into the music store my ears IMMEDIETLY took note. Like a magnet I was drawn to the corner where the speaker hang. For 2 minutes straight my head was slowly bobbing in awe with mouth wide open. Called my freind over, said "listen to this, this is it!" Metal/fusion/jazz/hip-hop all blended together to form what I would consider one of the best collections of METAL talent. A sound with hints of Sepultura, Pantera, Sacred Reich, Soulfly, Hatebreed and Primus among others. The crunchiest and tightest of rhythms segway into offbeat jazz that make you wonder if this drummer has 8 arms and a computer brain. Gangsta-rap meets Marley only to be obliviated by riffs that would make a grandma bang her head. An extraordinary blend of metal phenoms capped by killer vocals, crazy growls and a feeling of rage raise this band to the top of the CD collection. A real treat!!!!!

First, I've got to correct one of the earlier reviews of the second disc of this fantastic cd set. The hip hop tracks aren't exactly made my Candiria, as he had said. The beats and music were made from Candiria members though, but the rapping is by other friends and people in the 718 crew. However, the other two groups on the second disc: Ghosts of the Canal, and music from the 'moons project' is all made by Candiria members. Ghosts of the Canal is amazing ambient/improv/free form jazz, and the Moons Project is amazing electronica in the Intelligent Dance Music vein and also has an ambient side. Fans of Aphex Twin and Boards of Canada will eat it up. The first disc is all Candiria, is probably the best cd for new listeners. The music is soo colorful, and makes it difficult to deny the talent of the group. This is music that will change your perception of what music could and should be.

Candiria is an amazing jazzcore band (laughs)! I dont want people to be looking at this and be like "jazzcore ? what the hell ? " but there is such music out there in that category, such bands like " eurora" , "bizniz","stilk" ,"harshlruky","darknessfall","flukikikekorkne" and "event horizan" all of this bands i just named are all "jazz-core" and let me tell you their amazing now, their all underground so they aren't known by many people but yet all of their shows get sold out real quick ! Let me explain what jazz-core is alright ? it is when you mix hardcore music and add that with jazz and some hip hop all together. I have to admit my favorite jazzcore band is "eurora" those guys started back in 92 and they have realse 10 cds so far which none of them been disapointing. Well i said what i had to say and this album " the coma imprint" by candiria realy sounds good ok ? buy it !

new candiria album,

candiria are truly an original band. a mixture of jazz, hip hop, and metal, fused together in a very impressive manner. . im almost tempted to say they are on the verge of genius. i was very very stoked to see the new record out. i found '300% density' to be very inspiring last year. completely kicked my ass. as far out as last years record was, this one is even more so. not a bad thing. this is hardcore street fusion, totally hypnotizing. its also a 2 disc set. the first disc is candiria kicking ass as usual. the second disc though, is a mixture of off the wall, more subtle tunes featuring artist im not familiar with. im actually spinning it right now. its pretty unique. any fan of metal, hip hop, jazz, or just someone looking for something different should seriously consider shelling out for this album. this may be the future.

Candiria deliver the goods beyond my wildest expectations. This band is soooo far above and beyond all other bands in the genre. They are like Soundgarden was to grunge and Janes Addiction was to alternative-groundbreaking! This is the first album that comes close to capturing the energy of their live shows. "Bring the Pain" is very impressive and the bonus CD has a bunch of cool stuff from their C.O.M.A. camp that I guess they will be releasing in the near future.

not for everyone,

Hardcore meets jazz meets hiphop. Don't think rapmetal or numetal. This stuff is good. But yeah, it's definitely not for everyone, as a lot of more traditional metalheads would dislike it. It took me a bit to get into it, but now I like it a lot.
If you've never heard Candiria, isten to all the clips before you buy.

If you have always liked/loved Candiria, then you will definitely love this sweet, sweet, morsel. The first disc is riddled full of the normal Candiria explosions. The production is one of Candiria's best. Disc 2 is full of tranceful subculture of upcoming artists on the way through their very own record label.

With jazz-trained kenneth, relentless growls and screams from carley, and intense riffs, Candiria is my favorite band as of right now. I recommend anyone who knows anything about music, especially any drummers out there, that they pick this record up along with "The process of self-development" and 300 percent density. It will blow your mind and expand your musical capacity.
