5.0 out of 5 stars The Book Of All Books
What else can I say about the book made by the man himself. Well since I didn't say anything yet, I guess I better get started. (I admit that was bad).

I agree that you need previous knowledge of c++, but if people are going through the c++ books and realizing that they are just repeats of old knowledge you already know, then this book does the least of your...

What else can I say about the book made by the man himself. Well since I didn't say anything yet, I guess I better get started. (I admit that was bad).

I agree that you need previous knowledge of c++, but if people are going through the c++ books and realizing that they are just repeats of old knowledge you already know, then this book does the least of your concerns.

This book does present you with SOME past information, however it seems to present it much more difficult and ends and starts out with new information much faster than all the other books. And believe me, with all the pages in this book, there seems to be alot to learn about this book. Overall, I'd recommend it to any continuing C++ programmers. 5 out of 5.

This book has everything. The examples are very usable and the explanations are clear. All you could expect from the guy who invented the language.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you want C++, you want this book!, February 24, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: C++ Programming Language, The (Paperback)
How could someone start programming C++ in a professional way without having read this book? In no way! Reading this book from the inventor of C++ (among the other books from Bjarne...) will save you from having to read a dozen of other book covering the same subject. I have this book two times in my bookshelf: One in English, the original; and one in my own mother language (german). Perhaps I should buy the chinese version, too... :-)) greetings, Bruno Dickhoff, Duesseldorf, Germany

5.0 out of 5 stars You MUST read this book!!, February 14, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: C++ Programming Language, The (Paperback)
This book is unequaled in terms of topic coverage and usefulness of the material. The examples are professionally written production code (no cutesy, throw away examples here). This is by far the best book about C++, even if you already consider yourself an expert

If you want to learn from the master, then this is the book for you. Every topics is covered, altough some understanding of c/c++ is required at least, at the intermediate level. But,nevetherless it's a good reference book everyone need to have.

Although suggesting this book to a novice / enthusiast is like letting your teenager drive your corvette, over all this book is about understanding the mind of orgin and impulse, a drive to create. Comprehension critical personnels, not only they shall review but place this reference as religious one do for the bible. Bear in mind that one's knowledge doesn't always come from textbooks and experiences. By understanding the mind of a such will only benifit one's knowledge to do the same but better.

I gave 3 stars according to the general purpose ratings. If you loved this book, I suggest "Threads Primer" by Lewis Berg. However if you are a novice / enthusiast, I suggest "Fundamentals of Computing with C++" by John R. Hubbard, Ph.D. also "Programming with C++" by John R. Hubbard, Ph.D. Two books are like what the Cliff's Note did for the novel, "A Tale of Two Cities." by Charles Dickens. They have textbook like qualities with brief comprehensive details. Few good samples and a lot of practice and questions to test your skills, those books are given fair 4 stars. Due to minor typos and printing mistakes, they may be difficult to understand for a pure white color beginners.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent C++ Programming book., July 16, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: C++ Programming Language, The (Paperback)
This is the best C++ programming book for the real programmers from the father of C++. No one can better explain other than the father about his offshoot.

Bjarne is good technical book writer too... apart from programming...
