Format: Audio CD
This is, quite simply, a wonderful, loud, high-intensity album. For those not in the know, Mika Miko is an all-girl garage-punk outfit out of Los Angeles specializing in songs that are distinct, fast, and catchy as hell (catchy in the Black Flag and Bad Brains sense that is). Solid production.

Format: Audio CD
Mika Miko has a sound that is a throw back to Punk Rock before hardcore became popular. They remind me more of what was happening in Los Angeles circa 1978-79 and do a helluva job too. The first time I saw them they opened for The Avengers (the original 1977-79 punk rock band from San Francisco) and as soon as Mika Miko hit the stage I had a feeling I was in for something different. One of the singers (Jennifer) uses a red telephone as her microphone which lends a unique sound to her voice. The band is solid all around. Michelle is an amazing guitarist, Kate pounds the drums, and Jesse just blows me away on bass, absolutely phenominal! If you get a chance to see them live, do it! One warning though, Mika Miko tend to invite their fans on stage which if fun and all, but sometimes the fans get in the way and truthfully, you can't hear the band very well. But at the shows people are not in the way, get ready to be blown away!

Mika Miko is very refreshing to hear. i will go so far as to say that they truely define modern punk. with no songs over 2:30, gritty fast riffs, and lots of noise, they have a lot going for them. but not only do they have the raw energy of punk, they are also very musically talented, and it's hard to get tired of them. a must for all those interested in the la noise punk scene.
