Product Description

Every installation technician has faced it or soon will - the dreaded humming from the speakers, a telltale sign of a ground loop. Ground loops are caused by voltage potential differences at the ground point on your equipment. Voltages in the range of microvolts up to millivolts or higher can cause ground loops. Ground loops occur when multiple audio/video components are powered from different outlets, most commonly, outlets that are tied to different circuitbreakers or even a different secondary from the power transformer. Ground loops manifest themselves in the form of speaker hum. Our isolation transformer easily connects into your audio/video system and breaks the ground path through cables between components. Start at the component last installed before the ground loop was discovered, and connect the isolation transformer at different ends of the audio/video cable until the ground loop is gone. Input: 3.5mm Female Output: 3.5mm Male. Please Note: While this transformer is designed to eliminate ground loops, isolating the source of the ground loop can be very difficult even for professional technicians. Sometimes the problem can be at the last added component or at the furthest from the main system;however, these might only be symptoms of a harder-to-solve problem. Please exercise patience as you work through test scenarios to eliminate your ground loop issue.

It completely solved the noise problems that occurred while simultaneously charging while playing music on my cell phone. Highly recommended.

My older Prius car has a Bluetooth which supports only the headset protocol so it support only phone but no music so for a while now I was using the Aux input in my Prius to play back music from my phone via the car audio system. Except that I had a big problem which manifested itself with different phones and chargers. As soon as the phone was powered via a charger I would start hearing hisses and whining sounds coming out of my car speakers and from time to time I would even hear Morse code! Not a very pleasant experience. This is no more. As soon as I plugged the C2G 4000 between the phone audio cable and the Aux input all hisses, whines, and Morse code were gone. At long last I can listen to the music properly. The fact that this device has a female and a male plugs makes connecting this device in line a 10 second process since you don't have to hunt for an extension cable. Highly recommended if you suffer from the same ground loop issue.

When in my car if my phone was charging and connected to the auxiliary audio port at the same time I was experiencing a ground loop. This manifested as a buzzing noise that would match the frequency of the engine rpms.

I'm very glad that I found this product. I was originally looking for a ground loop isolator. There were not many options available for 3.5mm applications. In fact, I could only find one that had male and female connectors on either end. This product does the same thing as a ground loop isolator (I think they'd sell more if they marketed it that way).

The transformer portion of this product is a small cube. Coming out of both sides is about a 7" cable with male/female 3.5mm connectors. Just put this in-line between your audio device/cable and the audio port and voila, the annoying whine/buzz of the ground loop is gone. Unlike other products I tried this does not distort the audio, music sounds like it's supposed to.

There were a couple of cheaper of options for equivalent products on Amazon. However I needed this within a couple days for a road trip. Once you added in quick shipping the cost difference with the competitors was negligible. And another product that was erroneously labeled Prime-eligible said it would take nearly 2 weeks to ship their offering. This arrived in 2 days with no extra shipping costs thanks to Amazon Prime.

As for the device itself, it does exactly what it claims. I could somewhat tolerate the hiss/noise I was getting when listening to music when plugged into my car's 3.5mm jack. But I also listen to a lot of podcasts and the hiss was really intolerable for talk-oriented content. This knocked it out completely and now I can enjoy crystal clear sound as it was intended.
