Product Description

The drive of the multimedia age leads consumers to want digital capability and connections on equipment instead of analog. Consumers also have shown a desire for fewer cables and simpler connection methods. DisplayPort is a new license-free, next generation digital standard endorsed by VESA (Video Electronics Standards Association) and provides a means to defeat the limitations of VGA and DVI connections. The DisplayPort interface provides a seamless connection among a broad range of electronics such as PCs, computer monitors/displays, and home theater equipment. The robustness of DisplayPort also allows it to be compatible with many other digital technologies such as HDMI and DVI. DisplayPort Adapters from Cables To Go convert a DisplayPort signal for viewing on a DVI- or HDMI-equipped display. Connect the adapter directly to the PC. Then use an existing DVI or HDMI cable between the adapter and the display, and enjoy PC video content on virtually any high-definition digital display.

I ordered this cable at work to enable using a second monitor. It was delivered quickly and easy to use. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is - what's to love about a cable? LOL. Couldn't bring myself to mark "love it".

For some reason, the latest generation of Lenovo desktops and laptops have a DisplayPort, but no DVI out. Confusingly, their monitors only have DVI in and no DisplayPort. Thus, you need one of these (unless you want to use an old-school analogue DSUB).

This particular adapter works just fine. It's a bit big and heavy, and it's way overpriced, but it gets the job done with a crystal-clear signal and easy connection/disconnection.

I installed two of these on Lenovo UltraBase laptop docks so I could connect DVI monitors using their existing cables. Both adaptors worked perfectly on the 1680x1050 displays.
