FYI: Mine was Gold in color.
I was happy with my purchase until just a few days ago when to my surprise, I found that the very tip of the adapter had fallen off! This was the furthest bit of the end that inserts into the computer. I consider myself lucky that it fell off on my table, and did not get stuck in my laptop. I am even more surprised because I was careful in how I handled my headphones, and did not even use them that much.
Overall, I am very disappointed with this purchase, and would not recommend this adapter to anybody.
Thanks for reading my review, and I hope it was helpful to you.
Follow the advice of these other reviewers if you are on the fence about ordering one or more of these adapters (I picked up a pair of them). I also happened to have the same headphones as N. Morelli, and his (or her) observation about the nearly matching hatch patterns proved the tipping point for me.
When ordering, the primary option that came up was from a 3rd party that was fulfilled by Amazon because it was the cheapest, fastest option. I noticed that Amazon also sold this part directly, so to minimize the chances of getting the plastic part, I made sure to order from Amazon directly. It was in-stock at Amazon when I ordered, although it was about $.20 more. The part that I eventually received was the metal version.
Obviously, I can't say for certain that Amazon is exclusively shipping the metal version, or if the plastic versions are ONLY coming from 3rd party vendors, but I made sure to order directly from Amazon, and got the metal part I was looking for. YMMV.
As for the metal adapter itself, it's fairly weighty, and makes a *very* solid connection with my headphone's plug. Maybe a little too firm, but I'd rather have it be a tight connection than a loose one. In terms of sound quality, my first impression was that I didn't notice any significant difference going between my main headphone amp's 1/4" connection without the adapter and the 1/8" connection with the adapter. If there is a difference, I didn't find it significant enough to notice, but I haven't really done any significant *critical* listening with it yet, either.

I bought 2 of these. The first was great, solid connection, durable, lasted until I completely bent off the tip somehow. The second one I received was not the same product. Read morePublished 3 days ago by Amazon Customer
Works okay with my Fostex T50RP MKII. There's just the channel inconsistency issues that gives subpar channel connection.Published 6 months ago by Niyologist
Never failed me. Has been in extremely humid conditions; slight rust outside. No problems though.Published 8 months ago by Jimmio
Adapters for 3.5,, male to 6.3mm female in this form factor are a bad idea. It should be a short cable, to ease the load on 3.5mm jacks by using the support of the table. Read morePublished 12 months ago by Roger M. Levy
This plugs very poorly and does not connect both channels except in a very specific position. I use it with my Grado's SR125.Published 13 months ago by Karim E.
