Cable itself seems to be high quality, solid connections, works like a champ. could be cheaper, but i cant take a star off for something that isnt available anywhere for less money (that actually works)
verdict: buy this if you need it.
After returning this cable, I purchased the less expensive Tripp 6-foot USB 3.0 cable from Amazon, and it arrived today. The new, less expensive, cable works perfectly, giving me the about the same speed (50-55 seconds and repeating the test 3 times) as I had using the 18" cable that was provided with the USB 3.0 WD My Passport external drive. Paying more may not only not guarantee quality. It may not even work while the less expensive alternative works perfectly, as it did in my case.
It is transferring data at about three times faster than a USB2 cable.
I tested this on two different computers, (using only the USB3 Ports) with two different USB3 drives. A Seagate 3TB Expansion USB3, and a Western Digital 1TB passport USB3.
I tested using 2 different USB2 cables, and used 3 different USB3 cables to get a base benchmark.
Both USB2 data rates were about the same, and all of the USB3 data rates were consistently about three times faster than the USB2 cables.
The cable fits snug, not loose.
It's a little expensive, (as cables go) but it works well.
When I need a cable to work, I don't mind paying a little extra for it to properly work.
Cable Spec: 6.5 ft long standard "USB 3.0" cable with a USB 3.0 Micro-B plug on one end (connects to drive) and a USB 3.0 Standard-A plug on the other (connects to computer). This is the new standard for USB 3.0.
