Nite Ize tie-down carabiner,
By
This review is from: Nite Ize C9L-02-01 Large Figure 9 Carabiner, Black (Tools & Home Improvement)
I have a large Rubermaid storage box in the back of my SUV. It was always sliding around during turns and sporty driving. I already had some polypropylene rope and with just two of these carabiners, I am able to securely tie-down the box quickly. And, I can easily remove the tie-downs to get in the box and re-secure it just as easily. Great product!

I keep this clipped onto my messenger bag all the time and it's very handy at holding things or tying things down quickly. Not meant for climbing or anything over 100+ pounds, but it serves its purpose well.

Slick 'Biner,
This review is from: Nite Ize C9S-02-01 Small Figure 9 Carabiner, Black (Tools & Home Improvement)
The carabiners seem sturdy enough, as long as you are attentive to the load limits, and don't put undue stress on the actual clips. The clips are not meant to bear any load, but to keep things from popping out before you tighten the lines.I got four of these, and clipped one to each corner of a 7'6" x 9'6" tarp. Then I took four, 15' lengths of paracord and tied a bowline hitch on one end of each one. Throw in two aluminum tent stakes, and you have a quick shelter that you can pitch between two trees in about 60 seconds at a total cost of about $20 (if you buy everything locally). I use it over a hammock, and it's great (see customer image). These are gimmicky, but they also work very well. ===== ===== UPDATE: 8/23/11 After using these and the regular Figure 9's for a while, I came to the conclusion that the carabiners are the way to go. The ability to just clip them onto an anchor point eliminates the need to estimate the correct placement of the regular Figure 9 on the line. You can also always use the carabiners in the same way as the normal ones, but not the other way around. They're a better deal... I upgraded them from four to five stars. ===== =====

Genius product, use it all the time to secure cargo in my suv and trailer. Saves a lot of time if you tie stuff down all the time. (once you read the instructions and practice, it's really easy)

i received this as a gift. i had wanted on for a while but never got around to getting one. I was just going to use it as a tie down for a tent rain fly. but this thing holds 150 pounds! I'm going to be using it for more than that. the teeth are sharp enough to hold rope with no slipping but not sharp enough to snag and fray rope it comes with a little book that tells u how you can use it. (i thought there was only one way) but the booklet has 4 ways and there very practical. over all i would recommend this to any one i meet that wants a med. duty tie down.

I love these, and have several sizes. I've never been good at tying things up in the pickup bed. I have trouble getting the rope tight, tying knots, and having it stay tight. With these it's simple, pull it tight, wrap the rope around the bottom of the hook like the pictures show, and everything is secure and stays that way.

Strong, well built, small opening,

I bought this large carabiner in hopes of hooking it to my kid's stroller, knowing I'd find other uses if it didn't. Well, nowhere in the description could I find a measurement of the opening, but it turns out to be too small to fit around a stroller bar for Baby Jogger Summit or baby trend snap n go.I can't discredit the product for this, since they don't market it for this purpose, and I will still get use out of this for securing my kayak to the car. My only complaint is that the closure is not spring loaded. Most carabiners close themselves; this one doesn't. Other than that, seems sturdy and well built.

The concept of tie-less clip is cool, and it actually holds the rope pretty well, but the clip is trash. Not well built and too narrow to clip on anything recessed. The caribeaner clip broke after just 2 uses. Would stick to a regular looped caribeaner. This thing is gimmicky.
