This review is from: CAD GXL2400 Cardioid Condenser Microphone (Electronics)
I have bought this microphone for recording primarily acoustic guitars and voice. I already own large condensers from AKG, Neuman and AT but, given the price I couldn't resist trying it! As it turns out, it is now my favorite for classical guitar as well as steel string guitars. The sound is clear and well defined, without artificial freq. boost often found in other microphones. Very LOW self-noise allows even soft passages to come through perfectly. After hearing it, I actually re-tracked some guitar parts recorded with a Neuman 184 - the CAD sounded better (more natural) for my taste. Supplied shockmount works well though of course, not as robust as that supplied with AKG, Neumann or AT (at 10 times or more the price). Even at then times the price, it would be a good buy - at this price it's a no-brainer and you should get a pair (I did) |
