Verified Purchase
I've been using my Azur for almost a month with a Mac Mini via a USB 2.0 connection, an Airport Express via Toslink, and a Pioneer Kuro TV via Toslink, using the 851C's XLR outputs to connect to a NAD M3 integrated amp driving a pair of Martin Logan Vantages and a pair of Velodyne subwoofers. I selected the Azur over similarly priced alternatives because the Azur's inputs and outputs were the best match for my system, and because of the chip set and reasonable up-sampling capabilities. ( I was replacing an early model Mobile Fidelity M1-DAC with synchronous USB but with a V-Link II that I was very happy with outside of the unit's lack of a remote.)

The 851C's sound quality in my system is terrific and fully meets my expectations. I've settled on the Linear Phase filter as providing slightly improved resolution for all my inputs. The remote is very nice, and possibly nicer than the Kuro's remote. Unlike my NAD, the 851C's display is clearly visible across the room from my favorite listening position. The only unexpected drawback so far is that CD positioning is lost when switching digital inputs, but the CD performance is otherwise excellent. I think the 851C's performance and build quality is fully in line with its price.
