I could not figure out why these were more expensive than others - until they arrived. These are heavy - probably 5x what simple cane tips weigh. Looking in the cane opening shows one reason - there's a metal plate embedded in the tip. This stabilizes the cane tip, and adds to it's life - the cane won't skew the tip.
The other reason is that these are beefy. Thick. Heavy duty. Can't go wrong. Check out the photos.

I had called and checked the drugstores and medical supply stores in my area, both where I work and where I live, and none of them had the 1" size cane tips. The best any of them could do was 3/4" size, which was too small and split. Thank heavens for online shopping that enables us to find exactly what we need! They arrived promptly. I know where to go when I need more.

Why pay so much for a cane tip! Well in my case it is worth every penny and then some. One of my hobbies (the only hobby I have that I am any good at - truth be told) is making canes. After finding just the right piece of wood and letting it cure for at least two years then spending at least 30 to 50 hours designing, scraping, carving and finishing, I will be darn if I am going to put a cheap piece of rubber on the end of the thing.
These tip (which are actually, by design, more fit for crutches than canes) are the best I have found in all the years I have been fiddling with this sort of thing. They are heavy duty and their grip works on just about any surface meant to be gripped. Now I will grant you that the canes I make are meant to look good; very unique, but I insist that each and every one of them not only look pretty, but be absolutely functional. With this tip I get that functionality.
These tips have a metal insert in them and that is precisely what I need. I drill a small hole in the bottom of these tips and in the bottom tip of the cane and screw in a small flat headed brass screw. This assures that the tip will not come flying off when you swing your cane at weeds or critters. Glue is not good as it is a real pain to remove when you want to change tips. You cannot see the screw; it is buried in the rubber, and when the rubber tip finally wears down, the tip is quite easy to replace. The metal insert acts as a washer of sort so there is no tearing of the rubber.
I carry a cane quite often - always when I do my daily walking and I walk a lot. I have found that these particular grips give me wonderful traction on almost any surface and unless I do something awfully stupid, I have yet to have them slip. As I get older and my hips and knees have become more of a problem each year, I find that need the use of a came more and more to simply be practical and not just eccentric as I was when I was young.
These are good tips. I use nothing else and do highly recommend them. I have had absolutely no complaints from people who own one of my canes.
Which reminds me...I need to order more.
