More About the Author

My main interest is making and writing about making ammo for guns. Specifically making and researching how to make safe ammo and the history of the old guns that I work with. I like a challenge in regards to making ammo for a gun that no ammo exists and reporting about it. I have been doing this for quite a few years and am always obtaining a new (old) gun to play with. I do some modern calibers but to be honest most of them aren't any better then some of the old standbys. I have written two books and am working on a third which has been recently completed. I am working on a fourth book. I write in the Shotgun News and have sold them four articles recently. Two just got published and two more are in the pipeline as well as another that is ready to go. I am a regular contributor to Guns Australia and write for New Zealand Guns. I also contribute to the Canadian Firearms Journal on a regular basis. I hope to expand my writing as there is a good market out there for people who want info on loading, making ammo and shooting the obsolete guns. I have written some product reviews including Bore Paste, Crimson Trace Laser Grips plus Redi Lure and some hunting clothes. Also have done gun evaluations on such guns as Rugers, Savages, Marlins, and Weatherby. Handguns include the Judge and Delta Elite plus the new Diamond back line of handguns. At present Barnes Bullets is sending me some samples for my 454 Casull to do some boar hunting and write about it as well as other bullets. . I also have some hunting related material ready to submit. I am doing and have submitted articles on inline muzzle loaders to various magazines and sites. I also work with Sierra and Hornady bullets as well as Berger. As a member of the Rio Salado Sportsmen's Club I am their historian. That entails writing articles for their publication about old guns and I am also writing a history of the club. I have also written articles for the Canadian Firearms Journal and am a regular contributor for Guns Australia. New Zealand Guns has also accepted my articles.

I also have a small business making ammo for obsolete firearms.
www.obsoleteammo.com I am very pro second amendment and am against any laws that prohibit or hinder any law abiding citizen form owning, carrying or shooting a firearm. I am also a strong believer in ethical hunting and conservation. In the past I taught hunting safety and basic shooting classes and enjoyed that very much. Teaching youngsters safe and ethical firearms handling is very important for the future of our sport. I am a life member of the NRA & the NAHC whom I also submitted an article not yet published. I am a member of POMA and OWAA as well as the Canadian Outdoor Writers Association I also belong to the Second Amendment Foundation.
I have been published in several websites www.realguns.com and www.writerbobshell.com www.biggamehunt.net I also receive guns and other equipment to write about and evaluate. I also have my own blog. http://bobshellsblog.blogspot.com/. Other sites include
http://home.earthlink.net/~mhclary/bobshellarticles.html
http://hubpages.com/profile/alcan7 , http://members.ezinearticles.com/ and http://www.smartyarty.org.uk/my_articles/ I have written a few columns on gun rights but I will have to dig them out but will if necessary. For a good sample of what I do you can access my blog as it will give you an idea of what I write about.
I am always looking for more writing assignments and as being flexible I can cover many subjects.

4.0 out of 5 stars Replace your user manual with this book, June 13, 2000
This review is from: CANON EOS Rebel 2000 (Paperback)
I am new to photography. After I purchased my first SLR (Rebel 2000), I was unhappy with the user manual that came with my camera. The user manual does not explain what each setting does in detail, rather it explains it in one or two sentences. I knew I need more information. I am glad I purchased this book and would recommend it highly to anyone who is new to photography. I also bought the Magic Lantern Guides to Canon Lens. I DON'T feel that it was worth buying it since it was published in 1995 and is missing some of the newer lenses. The Magic Lantern Guides Canon EOS Rebel 2000 explains a lot of Canon's newer lenses.

5.0 out of 5 stars What's with these negative reviews? This is a great book!, July 19, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: CANON EOS Rebel 2000 (Paperback)
After years of using a point and shoot camera, I decided that I wanted more control over my picture-taking and the quality of my prints. I chose the Canon Rebel 2000 because of its features. While the instruction manual that came with the camera was helpful as a starting point, I wanted a book that went into a little more depth without being overly technical. This book is it! It explains all the features of the camera very well, and it provides examples of pictures taken using all of the various modes. There are suggestions as well for how to get great photos from each setting. The section on lenses will be extremely helpful to me when I go to choose another lens as I am new to the SLR camera experience. I am glad I didn't seriously follow the previous reviews of this book. If I had, I would have missed a very helpful and informative guide.
