The i550's borderless photo capability gives you photo-lab-quality 4-x-6-inch prints in just 48 seconds each. The i550 uses Advanced Droplet Technology, whose revolutionary nozzle ejects consistent droplets of a prescribed volume in ultrafine sizes with remarkable accuracy, refining colors and giving you exceptional photo quality. The printer also uses Precision Color Distribution Technology, whose symmetrical printhead design boasts 1,088 nozzles to virtually eliminate color variance and banding problems often found with conventional high-speed, bidirectional printing.
This printer supports ExifPrint 2.2 (Exchangeable Image Format File), a worldwide standard for high-quality digital photos. The i550's exclusive Easy-PhotoPrint software delivers the potential of ExifPrint. When a digital camera with ExifPrint technology captures a photo, it saves important camera settings and shooting conditions in the resulting JPEG image file. Easy-PhotoPrint analyzes the recorded data, then automatically adjusts printer driver levels and image-correction settings for optimal processing.
With its built-in paper feeder, the i550 handles 150 sheets of 17-pound paper, 80 sheets of high-resolution paper, 20 sheets of glossy 4-x-6-inch photo cards, 10 sheets of 8.5-x-11-inch glossy photo paper, or 30 transparency sheets. When the printer is used with Canon Photo Paper Pro, your favorite photos should retain their brilliance for about 25 years.

I own the i850, the i550, and previously the s750. All are FANTASTIC quality printers for both speed and performance. I have been a commercial printer for 20 years and with todays computer technology, I have sold my AB Dick printing presses and now do all my printing on these printers. I run everything for the small office. Letterhead, envelopes, invoice forms, etc. I used to have to make offset plates, ink up the press, and run each color seperately with a lot of messy ink cleanup after every run. Now I press "PRINT" and just keep feeding paper to the printer. These Canon 4 color systems are without a doubt the fastest and least expensive for cartridges on the market right now.
