I did not expect great quality, but I expected a usable unit out of the box.

The other issue is that the pads are not comfortable to me without my first rolling up a fleece throw and putting it between me and the upper edges of the pads.

I LOVE the 45 degree hyper extension benches at my local gym. They have two different brands and both are my favorite way to warm up and then cool down. I figured this adjustable bench looked close enough like the gym models, it too, would be a favorite piece of equipment in my home gym.

It isn't. It is awkward for me in two significant ways.

No matter how I adjust the sliding pads, the ANGLE to the pads when I place my foot flat on the foot plate and press flat against the pads, prohibits my using the ankle/calve pads. The ankle/calve pads are NOT adjustable and are so high up the plate when in that position that my calves don't even touch them.

I have to press my feet much lower on the rear plate using nothing but sheer muscle to lever myself against the plate. Seriously, with my height of 5'6", I get no calve/ankle support from the pads if I want my body to lay flat on the large pads. I guess the good thing about that is my calves are getting worked out like they never did before on the hyper extension machines at the gym.

The other issue is that the pads are not comfortable to me without my first rolling up a fleece throw and putting it between me and the upper edges of the pads. They dig sharply into my hips or my groin, depending on where I set the pads.

Speaking of which, the ONLY thing adjustable on this is the pads. You can NOT lower the calve pads. Also, the pads are adjustable at 4" increments. That can be too much or not enough depending on YOUR height.

I would not recommend this to anyone who can't first try it out somewhere for their own height and torso length. If you find then it fits, this is an excellent price here at Amazon and I would say GO FOR IT.

I ordered this product for use by myself and my husband. It is okay for me, I weigh 135lbs, but it feels like the metal is going to bend. My husband who weighs 210, had a lot of difficulty using the machine. It feels like it is going to fall apart. If you are used to a gym quality machine, this isn't it. The next time we get one (we are assuming this won't last too long), we are going to an actual gym supplier store and spending a little more to get something that's more sturdy.

I bought this roman chair a few months ago after using this type of equipment for years in various gyms. One of the only ways for me to get rid of my gut and "love handles" is by employing side bends and forward raises. I've been off for a year from a work injury (I'm an Ironworker) and had gained 30 pounds. At 5'8" and a normal weight of 160#, that was too much. I'm 51, and I work out with medium weights, then bike or run miles afterwards. My injury causes upper and lower back, neck and shoulder pain. I figured that building my back muscles and core up again would help.
I shopped the internet, and this one looked closest to the gym models that I'd used, although I knew that at the $99 sale price, quality was iffy. But it had the foot plate and handles, which help getting on and off, and was the same basic design, with an adjustable setting for user height. I figured if I really didn't like it, I could return it.
When I put it together, I noticed the welding was pretty sad looking, which should be expected since it was probably fabricated with slave labor in China. When I set it up and used it, it seemed a little wobbly, but nothing I couldn't handle. If I really wanted to stabilize it, I could fasten it to the floor with bolts, but it's not that bad. I will agree with one reviewer who said that the padding on the waist pads is insufficient. The backing board is evident when bending forward. They should have used better padding and wrapped the edges of the board. But this is something anyone can do. I re-upholstered a whole Universal brand Gladiator gym last year (first time at reupholstering), and for less than ten bucks worth of new padding and better vinyl from the local fabric\crafts store and a few staples, I can make these pads professional grade.

Xodus 45 Degree Hyperextension Bench is a nice exercise machine by mercantila, looks great, and is surely cheaper than similar other benches. I assembled the entire machine in less than 20 minutes. I would have given it 5 stars otherwise, but I am not very comfortable with the bend angle. I would have rather preferred between 55 to 65 degrees hyperextension bench, but I guess there is non like this in the market, as I searched it on internet. Anyway, if you are looking for hyperextention machine, you can trust try this machine.

This is absolute scrap metal chincy poorly constructed junk!
It is off centered twisted,..the foot support is bent the adjusting knob bolt is stripped and there hole in one of the pads.
These defects are clearly NOT from incidental damage,Like some one running over it with a forklift or a semi truck.
It is manufactured with absolute lack of quality!
What can one expect from "made in china"?
You are way better off spending the extra $100 or so bucks and buy from a reputable dealer and get something which you can actually use!
Customer service is non existant they say they will contact you promptly after you leave your message or e-mail,,,Good luck! their piece of junk chair will rust away before you hear from them!
Avoid this evil vile company at all costs
