CAPM / PMP Book by Andy Crown 99.9% Identical,
This review is from: The CAPM Exam: How to Pass on Your First Try (Test Prep series) (Paperback)
I would recommend this book for passing the CAPM but if you want a higher score don't buy the CAPM book but rather the PMP book offered by Andy Crowe. The books are 99.9% the same. The PMP expands on some examples that you are tested on within the CAPM exam. For instance , the Network flow diagrams are covered more by example in the PMP book rather then in CAPM Book. These were required on the exam. I have completed the CAPM and I am now looking forward to obtaining the PMP credential. My advice : Buy one book and read some of the extra 20-35 pages of extra material and be better prepared for the exam. If your eventually looking forward to taking the PMP or are looking for a better study guide this book isn't for you.
Regards, VP,CAPM

I passed on my first try!,

I have to say that this book could have saved me over $2000 in a Project Management class that I took. I came out of there completely lost after 5 days of unfamiliar terms and concepts. This book made things so much clearer. The author speaks as though he is conversing with you and not lecturing. I poured through every page for about 1.5 weeks. It was not easy, but it did give me the tools to pass the exam. At the end of the book, it is VITAL that if you intend to take the exam, you have to use the 2 week trial of the Insite simulation exam online. THis was another tool that allowed me to pass the test. Great book, great resource.

This review is from: The CAPM Exam: How to Pass on Your First Try (Test Prep series) (Paperback)
This book builds on the authors success in developing his predecessor book on passing the PMP test on your first try. This book applies the same techniques to the CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management) test.
The book begins with a description of the test. What the test covers, the format of the questions, the procedures to be followed -- all those little details that will at least ease your mind as you go into the procedure. After this, the bulk of the book is on the details upon which you will be tested. This varies from 'What is a project?' through the specialized terms and definitions, then through the various management sections (Scope, Time, Quality, Cost, etc.). It finally concludes with a sample test. This test is in the same format as the real test, but is different that immediately after the test are the answers. The answers are more than just A, B, C, or D. There is a short paragraph explaining the answer in more detail. Finally the book includes with a free trial subscription to 'InSite' a comprehensive online CAPM preparation tool. The normal cost for a one month membership in InSite is $99.

I bought this book after reading the PMBOK Guide. I have to say it is very easy to comprehend, and the author gives some real-life scenarios. I also used every bit of the free 2-week trial session to InSite. I really enjoyed this book and it did contribute greatly to my PASSING THE EXAM on 12/16. I am so excited!!! As I have filed some other books away, the CAPM Exam book will be left in arms reach along with the PMBOK Guide. Thank you Andy Crowe!

I passed the exam in my first attempt!,

This review is from: The CAPM Exam: How to Pass on Your First Try (Test Prep series) (Paperback)
This book delivers what it promises. I bought this book to prepare for my CAPM exam and passed it in the first try. I think I read the book cover to cover in about 10 days. In addition to the practice test given in the book, I signed up for the 7-day free membership at Velociteach website and practiced a few questions from each knowledge area. I also took a free exam from PMStudy. Contrary to what others have mentioned here, I felt that the actual exam questions were very similar to the practice questions given in the book except for about 10 questions which seemed unfamiliar. Note to self: Learn all acronyms when preparing for PMP :-) I agree with the other reviewers that some of the information (like the "Special section for the Critical Path Diagram") that the author refers to in the book is missing.
Although I am giving 4 stars to this book, I wouldn't recommend it because: 1) This book is outdated as its based on the 3rd edition of PMBOK guide while the CAPM exam is now based on the 4th edition and there are a few but significant updates. 2) The course material is same for both PMP and CAPM so why not buy the author's PMP book based on the 4th edition of PMBOK guide. I am sure that after passing the CAPM exam in your first attempt, you would want to take the PMP exam as well and the extra preparation will tremendously help you! One useful tip: Whether you are preparing for PMP or CAPM, you really gotta know all the inputs, tools and outputs for each of the 44 (according to the 3rd edition) processes as defined by PMI.

A must for novice PM,
This review is from: The CAPM Exam: How to Pass on Your First Try (Test Prep series) (Paperback)
If you are like one of me who panicked the first time you try to read PMBOK then this is for you. I would say first read this book to build the confidence of PMI's project management process and then read other books. Again as other readers have mentioned, this book and website alone is not enough for exam. My suggestion is don't read the questions/practice exam very often, the question type might get stuck in your mind. The questions in exam are presented way too differently than what is in book, I guess PMI keeps changing the pattern very frequently. Overall it was very useful and helped me pass the exam.

A great tool to pass the CAPM exam!!,
This review is from: The CAPM Exam: How to Pass on Your First Try (Test Prep series) (Paperback)
I just took the CAPM exam on Dec. 20th and passed it on my first try. This book by Andy Crowe simplifies the terms found in PMBOK by demystifying the world of Project Management terminologies. It was a great read and I recommend it. I have taken a series of courses in project management but they were not sufficient for preparing for the CAPM exam. If you have no prior PM education, you may need to spend more time reading both this book and PMBOK, but it is still worth the extra effort. THUMBS UP!!

A great companion book for CAPM exam takers. The book made the Project Management principles easy to understand. The online tutorial is very useful as well. I can say I could pass the exam because of the book. A word of caution though: There are few things the book might not have covered and also the actual questions are a little tricky on the exam compared to the one on the book. But overall its a great value for money and takes you very close to passing the exam. Put a little more effort and you will do just great. Good luck.

The CAPM Exam - How to Pass on Your First Try,
This review is from: The CAPM Exam: How to Pass on Your First Try (Test Prep series) (Paperback)
I passed on the first try as the title suggests. Much of the credit is due this book. There was no need for an expensive week long crash course. I am very pleased with the purchase. I think the book might have missed the mark on how much attention to give to the Communications Management process as I scored "Below Proficent" in this area. However, I did well in all of the other areas. Obviously, I would recommend this book.

It worked for me!,

The book, in conjunction with the 2 week online review, were a tremendous help for me. I just took the CAPM exam yesteday, and as the title states, I passed on my first try. That's not to say that this book alone will be enough to pass. Prior to reading this book, I read the complete PMBOK and completed a 23hr online course to satisfy the CAPM education requirement. This book was a great way to refresh and recap all that I had studied over the past few months. I would certainly suggest making the investment.
