5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book -- helped me pass the test.
The PMP Test is an experience in itself. It requires hours of studying and memorizing all the terms, processes, process groups, inputs, tools & techniques, outputs, knowledge areas, and Earned Value Management formulas. This book interprets the PMBOK language into understandable english. It also follows the PMBOK, chapter by chapter, section by section, so it's easy to...

2.0 out of 5 stars not for the kindle
the book is fantastic but you will not receive the practice tests and the video will not work in the kindle.
if you just want a study guide this is well written and i find helpful. However, the entire premise of the book is preparation for these practice tests and eventually the CAPM/PMP exams, with out the tests you loose a lot of the ultimate reason to buy it...

This book interprets the PMBOK language into understandable english. It also follows the PMBOK, chapter by chapter, section by section, so it's easy to read the PMBOK and then the book to see what the PMBOK is really trying to say. This was the only textbook I used for studying for the exam. What else can I say, but "I PASSED"!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Read and NOT Boring, June 19, 2008
This review is from: CAPM/PMP Project Management All-in-One Exam Guide (Hardcover)
Very helpful and insighful book. The explanations to the answers to the questions were really helpful. Also, the practice exams on the CD were a big help. Another part of the book that helps is the e-book. However, you can't print out the e-book unless you download .pdf software that will get rid of the non-printing restriction. A bit selfich, is you ask me. But I guess it's a good way to prevent people from reselling the content as a .pdf file.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book!, September 16, 2007
This review is from: CAPM/PMP Project Management All-in-One Exam Guide (Hardcover)
I purchased this book in May of 2007 to prepare for my CAPM exam in August. I am happy to say that I passed the exam on my first try as a result of using this book. The practice exams are an excellent resource to prepare you to pass the CAPM. I plan on using this book when I sit for my PMP next year!

I really liked the book. It's clear, well written & even a little amusing. The chapter summaries & review questions were extremely helpful! The CD is also a great bonus.

4.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended resource for CAPM, October 21, 2007
This review is from: CAPM/PMP Project Management All-in-One Exam Guide (Hardcover)
This is a great book, very well-written easy to understand considering PMBOK is a mystery some times.
It helped me in passing my CAPM in first try.

Only thing missing from this book is sample exams, it has 2 but you will need more to get used to PMI questions.

5.0 out of 5 stars Passed the PMP Exam, May 19, 2009
This review is from: CAPM/PMP Project Management All-in-One Exam Guide (Hardcover)
Just came back from passing the PMP exam, I used this book as my main aid with the help of the PMBOK to pass with flying colors ,this book is very well organized with easy to read and understand material that is straight to the point ,and the question at the end of each chapter are really close to the real exam and sometime harder.

If your are thinking about the exam then this book is a must have in your arsenal towards archiving success exam.

Special thanks to the author Joseph Phillips who didn't hesitate to answer to all my questions and inquires.

4.0 out of 5 stars Easy to Read and Understand, August 1, 2009
By
This review is from: CAPM/PMP Project Management All-in-One Exam Guide (Hardcover)
I purchased this book to use as a refresher before taking my CAPM exam. I had taken several PM courses and have a professional certificate in PM, but I didn't have my PMI credential. Since PM for me is not a full time function (weak matrix!), I wanted to start w/ the CAPM exam and move on to the PMP at a later date. This book really helped me focus on what I needed to know and introduced a few terms that weren't part of my classes but were definitely on the test ( A LOT!)

If you use this book, really pay attention to the inputs and outputs of process. It has a wonderful chart and I wish I had memorized those word for word - sometimes you will have 2 very similar answers and it's all in how they're worded.

The included computer exam was helpful, but there were some typos. Also, the practice exam and the 'real' exam were almost identical. I took them so often, I started to get concerned that I was just remembering which button to click instead of remembering the actual answer. It would have been nice if somehow the software could shuffle the questions each time, or maybe make the 'real' exam different than the practice. Also, including more questions on the inputs and outputs would have helped me.

I just noticed that there is a 2nd edition of this book that I didn't see when I purchased this one, so perhaps the newer version has worked out some of the software kinks.

Overall I thought this book was well worth it. Also, the price is excellent. Some of these exam prep books are WAY overpriced.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ideal working study guide for CAPM, May 22, 2009
This review is from: CAPM/PMP Project Management All-in-One Exam Guide (Hardcover)
With no PM experience I ended up purchasing a number of books from Rita and Tony(Crowe) as well as this book the end of last year.
I was unable to persue studies till april this year and suddenly realized how detremental it was having too many resources, and also the short timeframe as the PMBOK 4th edition is the exam after June.

Having run through a few sample, random chapters to see which book I felt best with I settled on Joseph's book. All I can say it what looks like a fantastic choice I have made.

Joseph's book reshapes the PMBOK content with humour and comments, as much as is possible for what is such a dry guide. The pertinent points are isolated from, but always mapped back to content in the PMBOK guide.

Each chapter has sample questions at the end, some of which I thought well I havent seen that! However, even though they may not have been mentioned, the questions are just trying to get me to apply what had been covered, but moreso were again mapped to the exact sections in the PMBOK guide. So in its own way the book is encouraging you to not forget the PMBOK which should of course be the main resource.

With an accompanying CD with more sample sample questions and answers its the only guide I am using to run with the PMBOK, and as many sample questions around that I can access of course.

Only one side comment to make about the accompanying book and thats about the key terms for each chapter. It would have been good to be able to copy and paste these from the pdf to put in my own summary document. But then it wont to my revision any harm to type them out !

I've got my exam the end of June but certainly feel more confident now, than being overwhelmed by the PMBOK as I was originally.
