2.0 out of 5 stars O Please, July 31, 2001
By A Customer
Lingistically interesting, splendid syntax, and many fine moments of lyricism as I'd expect from such a fine writer. But let's be real. The capitivity narrative as frame has long become an academic feminist cliche, and Samyn does little to expand our contemporary or historical reading of it.

Is this all our third wave has to offer?

5.0 out of 5 stars Lost and found, May 6, 2001
The dark eyes and quick wit of this fascinating young woman are just a hint of the depth and range of her work. I am fortunate enough to have met Ms. Samyn and heard her read her work, and I highly reccomend this book. Using an historical framework, the captivity narrative, a journal-like record of the ordeals endured by American settlers who were captured by Indians, Samyn explores a more modern meaning of lost and found, captive and free.

Wow! What a great book. I have also read "Rooms By the Sea" (you should read it!) by Mary Ann Samyn. I hope that everyone will love it as much as I did!!! (:
