This is a wonderful album that will put you in a dancing mood. An instant pick-u-up. This is zouk, soca and reggae music from Martinique, Barbados, Haiti and Jamaica. This album, like most of the Putumayo releases, not only has well known artists such as Bunny Wailer and Arrow, but also little known artists as well. It is a great place to begin for someone who wishes to explore Caribbean music. Every song on here is irresistible and will make you wish you were in the Caribbean. The 15 page booklet contains information on each artist and the song they perform.

This album is worth more than five stars. Four and a half stars is too low. We played it so long out of the box we got tired of it. But now we're playing it again and liking it more than the when we first bought it. We think this is one of the best Putamayo albums - totally worth the money, totallly worth five stars.

This is possibly the best Soca compilation I'd ever heard. Everything, from the soft, gentle vibes of Pa Fe Mwen La Pen, to the kicking beat of Krosfyah's Pump Me Up is worth a purchase on it's own... they all just get better and better everytime you hear them....

This is my new favorite disc to put on to wake up, to clean the house, or just to feel good! Hear those island breezes, feel the sun on your face and pah-tee down, mon!

When I asked the clerk at the record store to play this for me, I couldn't stop dancing! This captures the musical and language diversity of the islands, from Haiti, to Martinique, and Barbados. It is also nice to see the addition of Tabou Combo - Haitian pop legends and a band I grew up admiring. Eric Vigsl's "Pa Fem Mwen Mal" always gets the couples on the dance floor. But my favorite has to be "Ice Cream" - so soft and sweet!

I can't imagine anything more relaxing than sitting in the sun with a rum drink listening ti this disc with my eyes closed, imagining I was on some Caribbean island beach or veranda overlooking the water. A great collection to listen to in Winter as well to remind you of how much you miss summer!

Based on the reviews I was looking for a really "happy" CD. I was disappointed. It's not that the music was bad - just not as glorious as some of the reviews made it sound.

I really enjoyed this cd. It had a variety of songs. And it seemed to make the summer heat more bearable. It lightened the mood and just has great sound.

To dance and feel the Caribbean soul a enjoy holiday vacations at home

I heard a lot of this type of music while I was on vacation in the Bahamas. I really enjoyed the music and wanted to experience it again when I got back home. It's a pretty fun CD to pop in when guests are over for an outdoor party too. They'll enjoy the upbeat tempos and steel drums. Mighty fun!
