After the divorce Carolyn takes a bus to Hollywood looking for stardom, ending up on the street and losing her soul in a porno movie. She meets Madam Alex and becomes a high-priced "call girl" servicing movie stars and royalty. Her brother comes to visit and kills himself in her apartment. Later she meets Paul McCartney and he falls in love with her but she has lost the ability to feel love for a man. Paul soon realizes he is being used by her for his wealth and dumps her. As she ages she finds a new form of prostitution -- marriage. She marries a record executive who is caught up in a drugs-for-airplay scandal and is fired because of it. Carolyn goes back to prostitution to pay the bills when he is disabled by a heart attack. Her husband dies of a heart attack while caught in a snowstorm on the Matterhorn with she and a former john.
