Great watch, lousy band, July 21, 2010
This review is from: CASIO W96H-1AV Casual Sports Watch (Kitchen)
I got this watch because I wanted a stopwatch feature for running and I have had good luck with earlier Casio watches. This one works great. The buttons are easy to use and the characters, including the calendar numbers, are easy to read even with my middle-aged eyes. But the band they put on it is a disgrace. It is a rubberized type with 11 holes and a buckle. It fits my wrist on the 3rd hole, leaving 8 holes on a loose flap over 3" long. It looks terrible and is hard to buckle and unbuckle. I tried to get a Twist-O-Flex replacement band or something else but the watch shop where I bought it says the Casio attachment is unique and only another band of the same type will fit onto the watch. I am completely happy with the watch but I am ticked off about the band. If you are going to sell a watch with a lousy band, at least use a standard attachment design so buyers can get better one. The vendor told me the only solution is to buy another watch for everyday wear and just use this one for running. That's not acceptable to me.

Strap problems, December 5, 2011
This review is from: CASIO W96H-1AV Casual Sports Watch (Kitchen)
Strap broke and is practically impossible to replace. Strap is not a standard replacement and it is almost impossible to find a replacement that will fit. Save yourself some trouble and find a watch with a standard band.

Is not durable... case falls apart., May 13, 2011
This review is from: CASIO W96H-1AV Casual Sports Watch (Kitchen)
What I like about this watch: 1. The layout of the face. 2. It's easy to read the time. 3. It's not as bulky as the G-shock I used to own. 4. It's cheap. What I don't like about this watch: 1. The face gets scratches / rub marks and then then you can't read the time. 2. This watch doesn't have a timer feature. 3. Case cracks - The plastic ears that connect the band eventually crack, fall apart and THE BAND FALLS OFF. I'm on my third one over the past 2-3 years. I'm usually able to buff the rub marks off the face... no biggie. No timer... um... come on Casio. And finally, if the case was made from a composite plastic, it probably wouldn't break so easy.

Great Inexpensive Digital Watch!, December 21, 2010
This review is from: CASIO W96H-1AV Casual Sports Watch (Kitchen)
Why I bought this watch: - 50M Water Resistance lets you shower, swim, wash your car, etc., while wearing your watch (you can't swim with a "Water Resistant" watch unless its certified at 50M or deeper). - Main display shows you year-month-day, and day of the week. The large time display is very nice. It also features a dual-time setting, which lets you keep track of the time in any other part of the world. - It has a backlight. - It has a fourth button. Clearing the stopwatch is done with this button, as opposed to the backlight button which is how it's done on cheaper Casio watches. - Another nice feature is its specific date alarm setting: you can set the alarm to ring on a specific date and time. You can use this as an appointment reminder, or an anniversary/birthday reminder. It also has the standard alarm feature (daily at a specific time). It also has two others: daily for a month, and once a month. I imagine the once a month alarm would be handy to use as a reminder to pay the bills. This watch is jam-packed with features. Add in the 50M water resistance, and it's a steal for anything under $20. The battery is advertised as lasting 10 years, but with alot of backlight operation or constant use of the alarm it will last about 4 years according to the user manual. Overall, a great watch!

DON'T BUY CASIO!!!, August 11, 2010
This review is from: CASIO W96H-1AV Casual Sports Watch (Kitchen)
I bought this watch on October 17, 2009. The case broke on June 16, 2010. I took it to where I bought it and they said that since it was the casing that broke I had to contact Casio. I contacted Casio and they said to send it to them AT MY EXPENSE and they would let me know if the repair would be covered under the warranty. Well, you guessed it, it wasn't covered. Can you believe that? 9 months and they wouldn't repair it! Casio said that they don't cover the case under warranty. Well, gee, what is a wrist watch without the case? I will NEVER buy another Casio watch again.
