Optional subtitles in Chinese or English do not appear unless you go to the subtitles menu and turn them on. On screen menus are in English and are easy to use. Cast includes Cesar Romero, Frankie Avalon, Broderick Crawford and Alida Valli. The following review appears in the Internet Movie Database: "This Spaniard historical film is based on epic events and Spanish historic personages,thus appear:Fernan Gonzalez(923-970),King Sancho of Navarra,King Ramiro II of Lion and AbderramanIII. Movie concerns about the count of Castile Fernan Gonzalez(Espartaco Santoni)helped by his general(Cesar Romero)troops who arranged themselves to unify and make independent Castile from kingdom Lion ruled by Ramiro II(Fernando Rey and married with Alida Valli)and confronted against the king Sancho of Navarra(Broderick Crawford).Fernan was imprisoned(943)but was freed later. Fernan Gonzalez ,also count of Lara, broke the tribute one hundred maids with the Moors governed by Abderraman III(German Cobos) proclaimed caliph independent of Cordoba granting independence of Bagdag.The Christians kingdoms were united against the Muslim enemy and vanquished them in Simancas.Fernan Gonzalez created the county of Castile with title inherited and his successors will separate totally from Lion. Fernan Gonzalez history has been sung and written poetry by jesters and minstrels(in the film represented by the singer Frankie Avalon)."
