Great, different reading,

This review is from: Cat in the Mirror (Hardcover)
This is a great book on several levels. Erin's a sympathetic figure as a reject in the cold world of junior high and an affluent home with a father who travels and a distant mother. You really feel her awkwardness and social ineptitude. The Egyptian section of the book gives an interesting view of life in that ancient society, while showing how people have always had the same internal, emotional and interpersonal problems. All the aspects of the book tie in neatly together.

I finally found this book, having read it about 10 years ago. Egypt has always fascinated me, and it was interesting to see how a 20th century person saw the ancient world. This book also implies reincarnation, with several of the characters in Erin's present life appearing in the Egyptian world. A very good book!

The story reloves around two girls, one in modern day America and one in ancient Egypt. Their stories come together over visions in a mirror. Are these girls one and the same?

This is a really cool book. One of the best parts is the fact that it has 2 parts, one in present day and one in Ancient Egypt. The ending is good too. READ THIS BOOK! -Me

A Kid's Review
CAT IN THE MIRROR.
First of all this book is absolutely horrible. I wouldn't recommend it. Second this book is about two girls, a baby sitter, and a mother, who likes to travel. It takes place in New York. These two little girls barley get to see their mother because she goes everywhere. One day Erin (the older daughter) walks past a pet store and her eye catches this cat looking right at her. So she runs home immediately to tell her baby sitter. Her baby sitter tells her that they do not need another cat, so it makes her really sad,. Later that night her mother calls , she tells her mother that she wants this cat. Little did she know her sister was listening to her conversation around the corner. The next day the mother calls again to let them know that she's coming home to get some more clothes to go on another trip Without them. When Erin finds out about her mothers discussion she gets this horrible ore tune of voice and starts bad mouthing her mother to the baby sitter. The baby sitter tells her to stop then she tells him that everything she says is true about her mother. Five minutes later she calls herself ugly. So, the baby sitter leads her on and says "no your not, your gorgeous, now stop saying bad things". Erin has dark brown hair, brown eyes, and she's kind of short. She is seven years old. She has a huge crush on her baby sitter. |
