I love my Enduro 8 that I bought 5 years ago. It is still going strong. I bought the latest model for a new bike with the same expectations. It seems like it will be good but the old model had a few options I miss like two separate trip odometers which I really liked and it mounted a lot more firmly to the base. You have to push a clip to release to older model. The new one is removed only by force - no extra button/lever to push to release. May not be an issue but it just doesn't give me the feeling it is definitely secure as the old model. I also like the old style better. The new model is probably great but when compared to the older version, is lacking IMO. The hardware is sturdy but the newer model utilizes tie wraps to install - another cost-cutting "feature." 3 stars because they made a great device/design into a cheaper version.

I purchased this for my Surly Ogre. It was easy to install and calibrate for the 29" tires. Since I am past the "half-century mark", my eyes appreciate the larger readout. I like the heavy duty cable for the sending unit. I could do without the "Carbon Offset" reading, but like the rest of the features. I have an older Cateye Enduro on my touring bike, and it has also worked well. I would recommend this to others.

Have to agree with the other reviewers who prefer the older model. Newer isn't always better. Biggest gripes with this new model are the peel and stick attachment for both the sensor and computer. You better get it right the first time or not plan on moving it to another bike in the future. The previous design didn't use peel and stick attachments. Also now there are two pinhead buttons on the back of the computer for setting it up. Just dumb compared to the previous model. And lastly you can only enter one wheel size compared to the previous model. Again, another step backwards. The positive is it still uses the same beefy shorter wire with housing wrap which really looks clean compare to other computers where you have a extremely long wire that needs to be wrapped around the front brake cable oodles of times and looks not-so-clean.

Cateye was always one of those companies I turned to when I needed a bike computer but that has come to an end. Except I will probably pick up another older Enduro as a back up.

I found this model as a less expensive alternative to the Sigma 8.12 which I recently lost off my bike a few weeks ago. I agree with earlier reviewers who say that the unit is hard to program. It is easy to install, however, and the spiral tube covering the cable and front brake cable together makes the installation very clean-looking. Unit does function like the Sigma 8.12 for the most part, and I was heartened to know that every time I bike through the neighborhood, I burn 11 calories!

Simple, but effective. The only complaint is that it is not totally accurate, because it does not have all of the correct wheel sizes in its repertoire. The closest setting to our wheel, which is a standard 700x25c is off by about 1%, or about a tenth of a mile every 10 miles. Not a real big deal, but starts to be annoying when using cue sheets on century rides.

easy breezy. Not complicated. Carbon offset is hilarious. Granola folks may enjoy that feature.
