CBGB stands for Country,Blue,Grass,Blues, but it didn't turn out that way. Instead, it became the birthplace for punk rock. OMFUG stands for Other Music For Uplifting Gormandizers. (This CD contains a booklet that contains a good story about CBGB's, written by Lenny Kaye, dated September, 2005. CBGB's was a New York City, Punk Rock, Landmark for about 30 years. The original New York location, officially closed during 2006, after a dispute with their landlord. Founder Hilly Kristal, later died of cancer a year or two later. He had plans to move it to Las Vegas. I 'm not sure if the move ever took place. Anyway, it states in the notes to this cd, that they are trying to save CBGB's & it's place in Rock & Roll History.

There is an excellent companion book about CBGB, by Hilly Kristal, with an afterthough by David Byrne. Amazon carries this book. It is full of pictures, taken of the many, many rock, & punk rock musicians who played. I highly recommend it.

This is a "GREAT", Tribute CD to CBGB's & the many bands that got their start there, and to the late/great Hilly Kristal.

This is a Fantastic CD full of punk rockers, performing great punk rock songs. It includes Blondie, The Ramones, The Talking Heads, The Patti Smith Group, the Dead Boys, and many more bands, all of whom got their start there, and performed there on a regular basis.
