5.0 out of 5 stars Review
I have always found Canterbury of New Zealand products to be reliable, and I was not disappointed with this one. It's a quality scrum cap and quite worth the money for the way I play rugby.

3.0 out of 5 stars Durable but flawed
Had this scrum cap for 4 years. The velcro held up the entire time; cannot say the same about the Gilbert scrum cap I bought next. The material also held up pretty well. My biggest complaint is the large holes in the top. Caught an elbow in the head and got a decent gash. Some of the brands have smaller holes on top which would've prevented this. 5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect To keep My Head Safe!, November 2, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: CCC Club Scrum Cap (Black) (Misc.)
After recently joining a rugby team, I was of course concerned about how safe I would be at practice and in the games. My coach pointed me to Canterbury and I'm very glad I went with his recommendation. The cap is well vented and secures easily with a chin strap and tie in the back. Also, since i have rather long hair (and you can't use any body pins or clips in the game to put it back) it seconds well for keeping the hair out of my face.

The only downside I had, was the first few times i wore it the chin strap dug into my skin (it had a rather sharp edge from the fresh velcro), but after a week or two of use I broke it in and It's been fine since!

My biggest complaint is the large holes in the top. Caught an elbow in the head and got a decent gash. Some of the brands have smaller holes on top which would've prevented this. Of course, you wear a scrum cap for your ears and not your head, but they provide a fringe benefit of preventing many head lacerations. Not a perfect product, but a solid one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, Affordable, Snug, Everything a Rugby Pad should be., June 29, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: CCC Club Scrum Cap (Black) (Misc.)
CCC or the Canterbury of New Zealand is probably the most reliable Rugby producing name on the market. A company that started in the Rugby rooted New Zealand, All Black country. (if you know anything about Rugby the All Blacks are one of the greatest international Rugby team in the world with one of the longest and most ferocious winning history) This padding is made of polyester or nylon material allowing it to stretch to and fit snugly on the body, it was like 2nd skin to me. It is also quite breathable, and though I don't machine wash it, there is no harm machine washing it and when hang drying, it dries very quickly. The only draw back is that it is short sleeve, so it doesn't help in cold weather, but wear a long sleeve athletic shirt and it will do just fine. Now as a rugby player, wearing padding is considered more or less for mental comfort, the IRB regulation of maybe 2-3 inches worth of cushion-y material on both shoulder and chest isn't as much padding as American Football, for example. So if your looking for real padding in rugby, then forget it. However for what its worth, if $48 makes you less fearful of that on coming, full steam, tackle, and even gets you to play better in the game then by all means by buy it. This is about as good of padding your going to get for that kind of price. Most other padding is at least over $50.
