This book is packed with technical errors, April 14, 2006
This review is from: CCNP 2: Remote Access Companion Guide (Cisco Networking Academy Program) (2nd Edition) (Hardcover)
When taking exams for Cisco certifications one needs to know
quite a bit of command syntax, including the exact spelling
and any hyphenation.
Almost all textbooks for Cisco exams have some errors somewhere.
Strangely enough, usually the ones produced by companies not
affiliated with Cisco Systems are more accurate.
"CCNP 2: Remote Access" marks a new low watermark for books
produced by Cisco Press. It is truly sloppy work, which
appears to have been produced in a hurried careless amateur
cut-and-paste job which did not benefit from any serious technical review.
There are enough errors I recognized that I did not feel I
could trust any of the descriptions in areas of which I was uncertain.
Here are some of the problems which occur repeatedly, page
after page after page:
Commands will be spelled one way on one page and differently
a few pages later or even on the very next page.
A command will be described and its proper use stressed;
however, then the following example will use the command
incorrectly, or not even include the command at all in
the example configuration.
Save your eighty dollars and get more accurate information
from someplace else.
