Steven Patrick Morrissey (born 22 May 1959), known primarily as Morrissey, is an English singer-songwriter. What a brilliant idea to re-release all the morrissey singles, and the sound and all is ok !!! But the covers are miserable.. Bad scannings, and the text is allmost impossible to read !!! What a shame to release such a great singer under such lousy conditions !!!! There's even no booklet to come along with the package, to explain about the releases !!!! Shame on you !!!!

The first ten, arguably the best, singles of Moz's solo career all gathered in one nifty box - what a wonderful idea! His b-sides are every bit as intriguing and engaging as his singles and this set proves it.

The set begins with a-sides from "Viva Hate", through "Kill Uncle" and is spot-on concluded with "Pregnant for the Last Time". This collection includes every track that later ended up on "Bona Drag" along with a few other hard to locate b-sides such as "Get Off The Stage" and "Skin Storm". One special note, the "Everyday Is Like Sunday" single includes the uncut full-version of "Will Never Marry" which is a must have if you only own the "Bona Drag" cut.

I must concur with other reviewers who commented that the lack of any liner notes or informative booklet is quite odd. That would've been greatly appreciated by the fans and also a chance to shed some light on some of his more unknown, yet just as magnificent b-sides such as "Will Never Marry" and "I Know Very Well How I Got My Name". Though you must concede it would be awfully uncharacteristic of Morrissey to do such a thing as liner notes - the closest he's come to that was writing the notes for the "Under the Influence" set (which contained nothing other than his feelings on *other* artists music).

However, one of the prettiest aspects of this set is that each cd sleeve perfectly duplicates the original artwork. Just a note for purists, this collection has all the UK versions of the sleeves - some of which are slightly different than the US versions.

4.0 out of 5 stars His Other Hits, July 19, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The CD Singles '88-91' (Audio CD)
This compilation of his first 10 singles as a solo artist is truly wonderful. The 10 CD collection demonstrates Morrissey's amazing ability at writing clever and witty pop songs like no one can. Those only familiar with his hit singles will really appreciate the included B-sides such as "Journalists Who Lie," "Girl Least Likely To," and "Skin Storm." One can easily hear how Morrissey has progressed and evolved with each release. From his beginnings working with writer/producer Stephen Street and Vini Reilly to his current writing partners Alain White and Boz Boorer, one can clearly hear each ones differences in style and technique. From the Smiths-styled "Suedehead" to the rockabilly-like wonder "Sing Your Life," this CD compilation is a must own. Whether a devote follower or not, all will appreciate this marvelous collection. The only drawback to an otherwise fine collection is the fact that they failed to include a booklet to accompany the songs. Perhaps a booklet with some photographs and a few detailed notes about each song. Now that would have been nice. Without some type of supplement, the boxed set seems incomplete. But despite this minor flaw, I still recommend it to anyone interested in listening to something missing in much of todays music: QUALITY.
