This is a favorite toy of my 2-year-old twins. I am here now to purchase a second one, so they can each have their own (it was too much to bear, to see one of them sit on the couch all sad because it isn't her turn!) This outshines the Dirt Devil in every way. It has a very comfortable handle and a nice foot pedal release to make the top tilt backwards, exactly like the real thing. And it only took them a couple minutes to figure it out, even at just over 1 year old. I bought and returned the Dirt Devil vacuum because it doesn't have that feature, and it also has a very uncomfortable handle, even my little girl said "ow" when she tried to use it, so it went back to the store and I decided to get another of these. It is durable overall (they stand on it and sit on it a lot). We have had this almost a year and have only replaced the batteries once, even tho they leave it on for a long time sometimes. It's a great toy, looks almost exactly like my "big vacuum cleaner" and my only complaint is that the hose doesn't stay where it should after so much use. But that is minor and I just have to tape it up there, I guess, because this is the best of the little kid vacuums that I've seen and I can only find it here on Amazon.com...

My son turned two almost two months ago, and while this toy is recommended for ages 3-6, I think it can be appropriate for some two year olds as well. My son decided about a month ago that he wanted to assist his daddy and brothers with the vacuuming, and he'd grab the handle along with them and "help." So after some consideration, I got him this toy. It arrived today, and as soon as I got the batteries in it, my son was off and running. He used it for an hour and a half straight, and his little head was all sweaty from "working" so hard! It was very cute. My only suggestion is that you leave on the tape holding the accessories door on. If they don't want to play with them, these just fall out and get to be a real annoyance. Since we have only had the toy today, I can't say how long it will last, but for now it's a HUGE hit.

My 2 year old son was always dragging out my vacuum. He has been thrilled to get his own! It lights up and sounds just like a real vacuum. It picks up a small amount of lint too. It is a little difficult for him to turn on and off, but he eventually caught-on. I taped the front door shut so the attatchments don't end up lost. He was not interested in them anyway. Overall this is a great toy for a boy or a girl. I would highly recommend it!

My son is almost 2 and he loves to vacuum. Every time I went to vacuum, there he was right by my side. I had to get one for himself. This vacuum looks just like mine. He was so excited when he opened my closet to see one just his size. Not only does he vacuum everyday, but he uses all of the attachments to clean the couch. When he is done he places all of the attachments back, and then he empties the vacuum bag!! It does pick up some lint & dust. I feel this toy is durable, you just have to teach your child how to use it!! I couldn't have asked for a more perfect toy.

But my two & a half year old son is one who is is so intrigued with my vacuum. Everytime I pull out my vacuum and turn it on, I hear the pitter patter of his tiny feet. Where ever he is or whatever hes doing he stops, just to come and help his mommy vacuum. Needless to say, mommy would get the job done quicker if her son had his own vacuum. Well, now he does this vacuum is just like mommies color and brand. My son loves having his own vacuum and such a realistic one at that, now mommy and son get the job done quicker. Thank You, for creating such a great toy!!!

I bought this vacuum for my son last christmas because he always wanted to vacuum with the big one. He did like it and used it. However, it had a funny burning smell one day & I took it apart to find out the wires had shorted out. In the garbage it went after only 2 months of use. My son asked for another one about 6 months later and we tried it again, almost the same thing except this one lasted one afternoon. It got so hot that the insides started melting and the wires were smoking again. Well we sure don't need a third one. He can help with the real vacuum. A sure disappointment for him.

Great imitation of the real thing, but with serious design issues,

We just bought this vacuum today from Toys R Us for our 13 month old son who is *obsessed* with vacuuming. He LOVES this toy and seemed very appreciative of our purchase. In fact, because of his age I'm not sure if he even realized that this isn't the real thing! However, there are some serious design issues with this vacuum. Two caveats: 1) What other reviewers say about the plastic door covering the attachments is absolutely true. It doesn't stay closed, and the attachments just fall out- very poor design! Do the people who design these things ever actually touch them? Because a light touch is all that is needed to knock the case open and dump the attachments out. We'll probably keep this taped closed in the future. 2) On our vacuum, the two halves of plastic (front and back) that join to make up the handle do not line up properly (which we couldn't tell until we took it out of the box). My husband was able to pry the halves open and inspect it with a flashlight, and found that a hole where a small piece of plastic was supposed to fit in was deformed. We then pushed a screwdriver into the hole and wiggled it around to open the hole, and the problem was solved solved for the most part (the gap between the two halves is much smaller). Overall, this toy is a total piece of you-know-what. I would have much rather paid more for a sturdier toy. However, I still think it is worth every penny because of the pure unadulterated joy on our son's face as he walked around "vacuuming" our living room. I would absolutely recommend this to parents of children who are really fascinated by the grownup vacuum, because this is a very realistic substitute.

Junior's choice as the best toy in the house,

Our 14 month old son was first exposed to this vacuum cleaner at a friend's house and loved it so much we went out and bought him his own vacuum. After 6 months, he still loves the vacuum and takes every opportunity to "clean" the carpet and furniture, with or without Mom assisting with the real thing. Our complaints about this toy are: 1. we went through two of these as the motor started to emit a high pitched squeal after a couple of months (but they were free under the warranty). we finally just eliminated the batteries, but it hasn't changed his ardour for this toy (he now makes his own cleaning noise). 2. everything falls apart on this thing--accessories and parts are always scattered around the house. That being said, it is still his number 1 choice in toys behind the real vacuum cleaner.

I was so pleasently surprised that this was not just another dust collecting toy, it actually works. This toy actually picks up yet is safe for little fingers and small items on the floor and my daughter can help me enough. For the price, this is an exceptional value.

My son had just turned two years old when we bought this toy for him. It was a Christmas gift. He loves my vacume. So, I chose this one because it resembles mine and it looks real. He didn't play with it much for a few months. He was afraid of the sound and would only play with it when it was off. It is not too loud though, the sound is very realistic and not bothersome. I hid the attachments until he is a little older. He kept running around with them in his mouth. Now he is almost Three and loves this vacume. It is so cute and I'm glad I chose this one. It really works too, even the hose. It picks up loose pieces of lint or dirt. I just realized almost a year later that it actually has a little bag inside that collects the dirt. I make sure that I praise my son with thanks when he helps mommy vacume. It is very rewarding to him. I also take care of a four and five year old. They all love it and fight over it often even though we have a ton of other toys. They are facinated with it because "it really works". I would highly recomend this toy to anyone who has a child that likes to help mommy or daddy with chore.
