Purchased this item to check my oven temperature as it is NSF rated thus I concluded it was very percise. Placed same in my Jenn-Air Oven (4 yrs old) and set oven temp @ 350 degrees F - after oven came to temp CDN thermometer read 325, thus I increased oven temp to 375 after temperature had stabilized CDN thermometer read 340. At this point I utilized my Polder remote thermometer normally used for roasting meat and placed the remote probe next to the CDN thermometer after stabilizing the Polder recorded a temperature of 370 to 387 depending if the gas burner was ignited. The CDN thermometer continued to read 340 - 345. Very disappointed in the accuracy and performance - thumbs down!

One star because the indicator does move...but it doesn't like to move beyond 350 F. I bought 2 different oven test thermometers to check the GE Cafe gas oven: this CDN @ $7.50 and the Admetior Kitchen Oven Thermometer @$7.49, both from Amazon. I set the oven to 400 and placed the 2 new thermometers on the middle oven shelf.
The appliance thermo read 340, when the Admetior (now $4.50 !!) was at 330 or so, but still climbing; this gadget read 350 and stopped. After about 15 minutes the Cafe registered 400, as did the Admetior. This CDN never registered over 350 during the 3 hour roasting session. Two more test runs, the CDN shows 350 but not beyond, while the GE and Admetior both agree throughout the range of 250 to 500F. CDN is now in the trash and I'm out $10. ?:(^%$#$^!@

Love this item. I'm so glad I purchased it.
Where I live there is an old oven and there are no numbers visible to regulate the temperature, so baking was a drama! Once I finally purchased this thermometer everything changed. I love that it tells you the temperature in Celsius and Fahrenheit, because I live in the States but I am originally from Italy, so now this is helping me to learn more about Fahrenheit and makes things easier. Great, simple, inexpensive item!
